Kids and Christmas

Around this time of year my wife starts to wonder if we spend enough on Christmas. Of course I give the answer I think most fellas would and that’s a definite YES! My personal thinking is that kids are out of control these days anyway (see… MTV’s My Sweet 16) in what they expect anyhow. Of course they don’t need half the crap they get and won’t take care of the other half so is it worth it? How much is enough? Are women just pushovers when it comes to this stuff? I’m thinking if my daughter doesn’t play with dolls why do we buy them every year when she asks for one? If I have to go “NFL Kicker” style on Amazing Allison one more time in the middle of the night because she’s just chillin in the middle of the floor not doing anything I’ll go crazy!

My daughter called to inform me of Her gift request and I – of course – replied ….Oh OK Baby girl I’ll see if I can find one for a good price.

Digital viedeo cameras are upwards of 400$!!!!!!

I called her back and asked if she was doing drugs!

Kavika, now that’s exaclty what I’m talking about, and they’ll ask like everything is everything. When did asking for a 400.00 gift become normal?

I do not know, and I certainly didn’t spoil my children when they were younger!

I did – however inquire about how much time she’s donated to our Church, or if she’s helped any Families , or at least gotten (yeah “gotten”) on Her Brother -for Me- about keeping up with His assignments in His Senior Year!

That would be a BIG Help! LOL!

Getting “the Boy” through has been challenging.
