Like Obama said “It’s Time for Change” (In my House)
Ever since Barack Obama won the Iowa primary last week every candidate republican and democrat has adopted his slogan in one way or another. “It’s Time for Change”. Later tonight I anticipate Obama winning his second primary in New Hampshire once again creating black history before our very own eyes. (I hope this time mass media doesn’t ignore it.)
In the spirit of Barack Obama I’ve adopted this same phrase to act as an agent for change in our household.
It’s Time for Change:
- To our teenage son, it’s time for change: The trash man comes twice a week every week. It’s the same two days every week and we maintain the same number of trash cans in the house from week to week. Can you at least maintain the trash situation for a two week cycle without being threatened into doing what is probably the most basic chore in the house.
- To our kindergarten daughter, it’s time for change: Is it mandatory to put on your pajamas on as soon as you come home from school? Do you have to fight with us every morning when you get dressed because you’d like to wear pink on a 24/7/365 basis? And must we have a battle every night over you eating the minute amount of food we place on your plate – does every night have to end with a choice of eat the rest of your food or go to bed?
- To our baby who won’t be the baby anymore after the next few weeks, it’s time for change: You don’t run me, I’m the boss. We should start your change with you being able to change your own diaper… Ok maybe that’s a bit much but you get the point.
Is it time for change in your household?
