Martin Luther King Jr. Site

This is a very powerful, educational site about events leading up to and after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.

This is one of the best sites I’ve seen on the web! The Fox station in Memphis has pulled archive video that shows the events that were happening around the city during the sanitation workers strike in the days that led up to the assassination in Memphis. They also have archived video of important events that have happened since in relation to the King family. This site provides a historical record of the time in video.

It also includes a time-line, educational information and links to other sites that contain information on the civil rights movement. Please take a moment to check out this site, and be sure to share it with your friends, and family.

I went to Memphis last year on a flight layover. It was a Sunday. When I got to the Lorraine Motel, it was closed. So I stood in the parking lot staring up at the balcony. For me, I had wanted to the Lorraine since I was a kid. Finally, I just said "f-ck it," jumped the little wall and ran up the stairs and stood in the balcony outside room 306. A few seconds later, a HUGE security guard came running after me screaming, so I ran down the stairs and off the property. He pursued me (not really trying to get me, but just to yell at me more) into the street and I caught a cab back to the airport.

Big J when I started reading your post I had not idea it would go there by the end. ha ha. I stoppeb by the Lorraine one time when I was working in Memphis and we had some time before our flight. This may seem lame to you but I just went up to the wall and snapped some pics which I still look at from time to time and actually have one posted in my office.

Nah, it ain't lame. King was a bright light. Pictures of his assassination is like having a picture of the crucifixion.
