I was trying to lay low on the politics but here we go:

Is anyone else tired of this crap? And why do people get fooled by crap like this? Does anyone have an answer???

A friend sent this to me via email this morning. I thought it fitting to share on this post. THOUGHT FOR THIS WEEK: Always TWO Sides to every story, event, or situation but only one is often told. From the April 6, 2008 Washington Post: In 1961, a young African-American man, after hearing President John F. Kennedy's challenge to, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country," gave up his student deferment, left college in Virginia and voluntarily joined the Marines. In 1963, this man, having completed his two years of service in the Marines, volunteered again to become a Navy corpsman. (They provide medical assistance to the Marines as well as to Navy personnel.) The man did so well in corpsman school that he was the valedictorian and became a cardiopulmonary technician. Not surprisingly, he was assigned to the Navy's premier medical Facility, Bethesda Naval Hospital, as a member of the commander in chief's medical team, and helped care for President Lyndon B. Johnson after his 1966 surgery. For his service on the team, which he left in 1967, the White House awarded him three letters of commendation. What is even more remarkable is that this man entered the Marines and Navy not many years after the two branches began to become integrated. While this young man was serving six years on active duty, Vice President Dick Cheney, who was born the same year as the Marine/sailor, received five deferments, four for being an undergraduate and graduate student and one for being a prospective father. Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, both five years younger than the African-American youth, used their student deferments to stay in college until 1968. Both then avoided going on active duty through family connections. Who is the real patriot? The young man who interrupted his studies to serve his country for six years or our three political leaders who beat the system? Are the patriots the people who actually sacrifice something or those who merely talk about their love of the country? After leaving the service of his country, the young African-American finished his final year of college, entered the seminary, was ordained as a minister, and eventually became pastor of a large church in one of America's biggest cities. This man is Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the retiring pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, who has been in the news for comments he made over the Last three decades. Since these comments became public we have heard criticisms, condemnations, denouncements and rejections of his comments and him. We've seen on television, in a seemingly endless loop, sound Bites of a select few of Rev. Wright's many sermons. Some of the Wright's comments are inexcusable and inappropriate and Should be condemned, but in calling him "unpatriotic," let us not forget That this is a man who gave up six of the most productive years of his Life to serve his country. How many of Wright's detractors, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly to name But a few, volunteered for service, and did so under the often Tumultuous circumstances of a newly integrated armed forces and a Society in the midst of a civil rights struggle? Not many. While words do count, so do actions. Let us not forget that, for Whatever Rev. Wright may have said over the last 30 years, he has demonstrated his patriotism.

Mrs. D. Thank You for your comment. Too bad "they" only want to see the negative. There is more bad press than good press. This election and all the lashing back in forth is a embarrassment.. I wish Obama would quit having debates with Hillary. Hillary is a seasoned politician and a great public speaker and he does not have a chance when it comes to Hillary and her flip flopping antics. The only thing I want is a fare race to The White House.

I'm from NC, and this state has change a lot in the last 8 years, becoming more moderate. Not only in the cities, but even in the rural areas where folks have lost jobs, they are voting democratic more and more. For the last 16 years we have had a Democratic Governor as well as other leadership. John Edwards was a NC senator. So the NC republican party is desperate, and this add shows their desparation. But it will not work, the two candidates they mention that are running for governor, that have endorsed Barack, are very popular and widely respected. Again, that is why the republican party is soooooo desperate to discredit not only Barack but also those who have endorsed him.

I read Mrs.D's comments and all that is great but what about his timing and his delivery of the comments he makes. Come on people this is a big opportunity for us as blacks, Obama as President would make each one of us have to say we can do even better for ourselves. "when things go wrong, as they sometimes will, when the road your trudging seems all uphill, When your funds are low, and your debts are high, and when you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must but don't you quit. Life is queer with it's TWIST AND TURNS, as everyone of us sometimes learns, And many failure turns about, WHEN HE MIGHT HAVE WON had he stuck it out; Don't give up though the pace seems slow (or intensely hard), you may succeed with another blow (we as black people need to BELIEVE we can have a black President and put our money/ efforts into making that happen) Success is failure turned inside out. The silver tint of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far; So stick to the fight when you're are hardest hit, It's when things seem worse, that you must not quit. (From the beginning I have heard my people being negative about a black president, I'd hear stuff like he's going to be killed if he's elected- but just like Martin Luther King, King know there was possibility of death but he didn't give up. All I pleading for us to do is believe and not just be a mouth piece....It takes Actions of us all to push through all the muck and make this happen. As for Jeremiah he could of kept the current ghetto-ism quiet until this was over. Even though - I still believe.... Obama for PRESIDENT I will have a party for Obama if he when or looses, because we have made great leaps as blacks through his endeavors.
