Where Are You Madame First Lady?

Michelle Obama
If you think this is a post about Laura bush supporting cyclone victims think again (where was she during Katrina???). I’m looking for our future First Lady to be… Michelle Obama. If you’ve been reading the blog for any amount of time you should know we are strong supporters of black families including marriage, parenting and having fun while doing it. I wrote a post a while back about the positive affect it would have on our community to have a positive black family unit in the white house.

But as this long and exhausting democratic primary has dragged on I’m not seeing as much of my future first lady ever since the press tried to say she wasn’t patriotic. I know she’s still out stumping the states but not in the media’s eye like she was before. (I can’t wait for this whole thing to be over with. I’m starting to get that look that Obama has on his face now everytime he does and interview.) So please Michele if you are reading this please step back into the public view (yeah right like she’s reading this :-) ) I have three little girls that need to see you. With their mommy making it happen right here in front of them and you in the White House what more could an involved daddy need to inspire his little ladies?

BMWK family, do you think having Michelle Obama in the White House will have an effect on how our young ladies in the black community view themselves? From the hood to the burbs will it make a difference at all?

Quick Note: TheMom is still around, her new gig is keeping her occupied for a bit but she consults on the site :-) and reads all of your comments. She’ll be back to posting on a more regular basis soon. Hopefully I can keep you around until then.

I think Michelle really re-emerged after the Rev. Wright controversy came to ahead. She did some interviews on the talking head circuit reaffirming her husband’s commitment to dealing with the issues that the country really cares about rather than getting bogged down in stupid sensationalism. I see her hanging out more with Caroline Kennedy, probably because she’s very media savvy and no one will question her patriotism.

I wrote an article about Michelle and how she has lost some of her fire but she is a strong sister. I like the fact she said that we need to move on pass Rev. Wright.

I know a big role Michele has been playing is behind the scenes and working the superdelegates to the bone!

I would hope that it makes a difference not only with girls but with boys as well.
