The Day of The Purple Dinosaur Is Over!

Alright being a parent is great and all but there are two things TheDad can’t get down with. One is the expectation that me or TheMom is supposed to take one of the kids to somebodies birthday party on every Saturday in the middle of the day killing any hopes for free time, maxing and relaxing. The second is those stupid kiddie shows. Now TheMom has been caught actaully watching sponge bob when the kids were not home so I can’t call that one but for me… nah. I’m not feeling ‘em but there are a few I can tolerate and one I love. One of the few cartoons I like is “The Little Einstiens” (anyone seen that one) I think they teach some good stuff and I like the music. But my alltime favorite is my main man — HIP HOP HARRY.

I’ve been meaning to write about Harry for a while but never got around to it. Harry is just the opposite of that stupid Dinosaur Barney. BMWK family, TheDAD actually had to sit through a live show of Barney before, I felt so dirty leaving out of there LOL. Harry is cool, contains current dance moves, the kids dress fashionable and most importantly the messages are on point. They craft messages and songs around things like the importance of what you say, dealing with friends, drinking water and taking care of your body and on a weekly basis one of my favorite jams is when they sing a song called “I love to learn” (during this song the kids do reggae style dances like the thunder clap for those that know what I’m talking about). The only bad thing is that I’m not sure if there weren’t many episodes or what but you can never catch it, it ran for a while on TLC or Disc Kids or something then went off, came back on again and I haven’t seen it for a while but I’m telling you this is good stuff. The idea of a dancing rapping bear sounds crazy but they pulled it off. Harry is officially certified by BMWK. Check out the video below for more, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. (lol) So, that's it, my kids watched to much barney growing up. (lol) I love that video "The Purple Destroyer", It was like watching modern day life vs ancient days. And to think that I watched Barney for almost a decade. I will have to pass that along. But let me tell you what is funnier than watching the kid's shows without the kids- when you are driving down the street and all of sudden you hear yourself singing the barney I love you song or the clean up song. That was when I knew that I needed some adult conversation and probably treatment to be deprogrammed. (lol)

Hip Hop Harry is da bomb!!!! In the voice of Hip Hop Harry "I love to learn, I love to learn, I love to learn. I had a question that needed an answer, where did I go? To the library!" Hip Hop Harry comes on at about 5:30 am where I live, and my husband and I are usually up feeding twins, and we immediately turn the TV to Hip Hop Harry. I am not ashamed to admit that I love Hip Hop Harry and yes, I watch it when my 9 year old is still asleep!

Mom of 3 I'll admit I have been known to jump in the circle at the end when Harry asks who's next (thats an insider's thing). And Harry I would watch on the solo, it's actually good music, good beats, nice message, I'm down.

Barney vs Hip Hop Harry. lol. I forgot how lame Barney is/was until I saw the clip. I am from the 'ole school' Barney days though and so glad serving my time with Barney days are long gone. My youngest kid is 18 and still watches kid shows so I know who Hip Hop Harry is. What happed to "School House Rock (Conjuction junction, I Am a Bill etc) and The After School Specials? I worry for my future grandkids that my kids will put them in front of the tv to be a babysitter. Todays cartoons are so violent. PS. "The Wiggles" need I say more?
