Kim h20 - I agree...we had a great time this year. And I just love watching people. So many different types of black folks...it is a lovely thing to see. And you are right... everyone is happy...having fun..being kind... no fighting or disrespectful stuff. Which is why TheDad and I love to go to this event every year.

We usually go with a few friends. But this year, we went alone. Just the two of us in the tent, with our cooler, and snacks, and playing cards. We talked and laughed, and fought ( just a little bit...it was hot..so we had our periods) and kissed and hugged... ( that's that Black Love...we were talking about last week.) But we had a good time just with each other this year. I truly enjoyed myself.

I am a people watcher... so I could just sit the entire day and listen to the music and watch people walk by. Watch them set up their tents... Some people bring everything but the kitchen sink to this Jazz Fest. They bring tents, and tables, and chairs, and all kinds of food....They are just equipped to the MAX for a day of fun!! And the hairstyles and outfits... We are so diverse ...the dreads, the perms..the long hair ..short hair... curly hair.. nappy hair..

This year... I will have to say that the act that I was pleasantly surprised by was Howard Hewitt. I really enjoyed his performance...that man can still sing!!! TheDad says I am not a music person...and it is true. So I did not realize all of the hits that Howard had. I just kept saying... Howard Hewitt is going to sing " I want to thank you God for giving me one more chance...." But there was soo much more to his performance.

If your town has a Jazz festival or a Wine Festival ....it is definitely worth checking it out.

Kim h20s - glad you enjoyed yourself, it is definately the spot to be and a tent is mandatory. They provide shade, bug netting and best of all guaranteed personal space LOL. It's good to see that many people in one place and I've never seen anything stupid going on. Everyone is there for the cause and the cause is to chill

i was at the capital jazz fest for the first time this year. it was such an air of love and of happiness! the vibe was amazing, just black folks getting down and having a good time.

but the most amazing thing was hearing how brothers addressed each other "what's up chief?" "how you doing boss?" "family" "brother" .

so many times when "we" get together the party can get out of hand, but jazz fest was on a whole different level.

we're already making plans for next year. i think we're going to buy a tent...lol
