Over the weekend me and TheMom went to something else thats beginning to become an annual ritual of sorts. The National Capital Barbecue Battle. Now we have entirely different reasons for wanting to go. TheMom likes to walk around and look at the exhibits, get the free samples of everything they hand out and she adores anyplace we go that has a bunch of food vendors.
Now me on the other hand, the only reason I go every year is to see Saturday’s final act – The Godfather – Chuck Brown. Pre- TheMom I’d really shoot to arrive there right at start time to catch him going on stage then when he leaves I’m out too. I mean I get the best Barbecue in the DMV (Dc, MD, VA Area) on the regular (The Smoke Shack) so why play around with these local folks I’ve never heard of and out of town jokers who claim to have that fire only to disappoint me.
Anyway we head down a little early for her sake since she was getting restless at the house (Be on the lookout for an upcoming post called “The Perfect Saturday” where we both detail what the perfect Saturday consists of for us both. Believe me there is a big difference.) Missed the rain, walked around, ate a little bit, I got to enjoy Chuck (despite holding a disgruntled 2 year old that wanted to cut up during the entire performance) and we shared a good time.
