The LA City Council passed a law yesterday that put a one year ban on the opening of any new fast food restaurants in South LA. They’ve targeted this area which has a child obesity rate of 30% when compared to 25% for the rest of the city. Their aim is to encourage more sit down restaurants with healthier food choices to open in the area.

BMWK, do you think this was a smart move by the LA City Council? Will it make a difference? What would you do to combat high child obesity?

I like “slow” food so that’s fine with me. :-)
They need to work more on businesses with healthy-fast food like Pret a Manger. People can’t always sit down on a lunch break.
