We gave over the house keys to my cousin that’s been staying at the house the past few days while he has a work assignment in DC, dropped the kids off at my in-laws house and hit the road. We’re blogging live from THE A-T-L for the next few days. We’ll still talk about some of the regular stuff but we’ll also let you know what we’re up to in GA.
We caught the first hour of CNNs Black in America that focused on black men last night. I still wasn’t feeling it and it just seemed like more of the same to me. It’s the same stuff you see on the news and on TV all of the time, what was the difference. I’ve been reading around the web and it’s almost like some people are just happy that CNN devoted 4 hours to talk about us but thats not enough for me. Now disclaimer that I Didn’t see the last hour so maybe I missed something but up until then I just wasn’t impressed. I didn’t see enough of the broad spectrum of blacks in America, I know they showed the one guy that was the married to the judge but also showed how his sons married white women and his house got raided by the feds. CNN should have hollered at me, after they got all of their footage I would have took them to neighborhoods that are full of million dollar homes and are completely black, lets show that side. Then I would have took them to Howard, Hampton and Morgan State to show all of the black students MALE and female that are going after a higher education in our HBCUs and talked about how these institutions are still graduating the most blacks in many fields. Then I would have take them past my man Janks Morton’s house so he could break down some of his stats for them like there are more men in college than in jail…. BMWK don’t get me started. If you didn’t see it you need to check out yesterdays post I did about not beleiving the numbers there were some very good comments and they are still being left there. If you want to comment about CNNs special please do it there.
Back to Atlanta – Me and the mom checked into our hotwire.com hotel the one we got for 90 bucks a night that normally costs 340. I knew that we were balling on a budget when we pulled up and saw a Rolls Royce Phantom in the front – LOL. We kicked it over to TheMom’s cousins house where we saw the first half of the special. The reason I didn’t see the end was because we were trying to get to Pappadeaux’s (one of my favorite spots but we unfortunately don’t have one in DC) a brother got the jones for that Crispy Fried Alligator, I got hooked back in the day when I used to have to go to Dallas all of the time. But… them suckas were closed so we had to find something else, it wasn’t looking good so we ended up at Fridays then called it a night.
We’ve got some running around to do today then some plans for tonight so I’ll blog later about what we’ve been up to for those that are interested.
BMWK do you have any suggestions for us while we’re in Atlanta? Hot spots, things to do, places to go? Let us know!
