I am neither happy or sad. I however look at this as a safe choice. I have pinned and article on http://www.blacknessdefined.wordpress.com addressing some issues that surface regarding this selection. Barack Obama is betting that he doesn’t need Mrs. Clinton. I am not sure that was a good tactical move. Many of her supporters may vote for McCain or not vote at all. Barack Obama is going to get the black vote. He will also get die hard Democrats. WIth Biden he may get some additional white male swing voters. Where he may lose some ground is in the female white voters. They may be the swing voters that tilt the election. If McCain chooses a white female acceptable to a lot of white women this may become a game changer. So I think Barack took a huge gamble and we will see how it pays off.

This was the best choice for Barack. Blackness defined totally dismisses the effect of Hillary Clinton. You can talk about unified political party, but if you want to mobilize the right’s base, choose a Clinton. Bill Clinton alone will triple John McCain’s donation and they have enough dirt for the next five elections. That would have been a horrible strategic and tactical move. There is no way McCain is choosing a white female for his VP, that is politically naive. He is probably going to choose Romney now instead of Pawlenty.

Biden needed a candidate with as little baggage as possible and could possibly supplement his weaknesses.

Obama and Hillary – Double Minority, most inexperienced Ticket ever to run for office – the ultimate anti-affirmative action campaign and not to mention Bill. You think that Biden ad the McCain released was bad… Imagine all of the clarifications, backtracking, and justifying that Hillary and Obama would have to do. I distinctly remember one quote, “John McCain has experience, I have experience, and Barack has a speech he said in 2004.” She dug a political hole for herself. Hillary’s time was now or never… she is never going to be president.

Obama and Kaine – I think Kaine actually was the most like Obama, however, that lack of experience shot him out.

Obama and Bayh. Aside from Indiana, Bayh brings nothing to the ticket. The question is – How much is Indiana worth? And do we want Bayh to face a candidate like Pawlenty, who is a saint – Literally.

We have to remember that politics is serendipitous. Given the conflict with Iran, Georgia & Russia, it would have been a terrible tactical and strategic move to pick anyone aside from Biden or Wes Clark. FYI, Biden’s son is going to Iraq in October, I’m sure they will exploit this for the campaign at some point.

I like his sharp wit, and think the two will make a fantastic team.

Barack campaigned for change. He picked the consumate Washington insider. I am not sure Peter definitely defended his statement that it is politically naive to choose a white female candidate. Also I am not saying Obama should have chosen Hilliary but he should have probably given the apperaance of serious vetting. Women probably make up the largest swing block and are worthy of some consideration as to what would energize them. Normally the VP doesn’t matter but with a large percentage of people wavering you need a competitive advantage. Biden represents an admission of weakness on the foreign policy front. Do you think he represents an advantage in the electoral college? I just believe there is an opening exposed by selecting Biden and we shall see on the exit polls. I do believe McCain will pick a white male so we may never know.

I’m just glad he didn’t choose Hillary. I wouldn’t have voted for him if she was his running mate – that’s how strongly I feel about that. I do know I need to do more research on this Biden fellow though.

As for the Hillary effect, I’m sure you’re aware that since McCain was a shoo-in during the primaries, there were some Republicans who went out and voted for Hillary to try to keep Obama from winning. I think having Hillary on the ticket would have done nothing but help McCain in November.

I am more than happy with Obama’s choice. He made it through Hillary’s campaign, paid her debt of 10 million dollars because she would not quit, and now he is making the smartest political choice of his career. I back Obama 100%. I saw Biden on Meet The Press right before Russert passed away and I liked him. When I saw that angry Hillary supporter (that old white lady that called Obama an incompetent black man when he nabbed the nomination?)…I realized, if the shoe were on the other foot, Hillary would not have chosen Obama either. He is a smart man and his wife is a VERY smart woman………Hillary can kick rocks.

I agree with Tina, however I still would vote for Barack had he chose Hillary because I believe in Barack, but I have to say i’m glad he didn’t chose Hillary she showed her tail during this election and it was pretty ugly, and i dont’ think she would have chosen him had she won the nomination. I’m not that familiar with Biden but from what i did hear – he appears to be a good choice thus far.

@ewok says – Hillary can kick rocks – LOL!!

    Summary of the eRumor:
An angry email from a CPA claiming Joe Biden failed to pay for his 1988 Presidential campaign finance disclosure agreement and air time. The email called Biden a liar and a cheat, racking up thousands of dollars in unpaid debts.

    The Truth:
This email is authentic, but the author told TruthOrFiction.com that the matter has been resolved between him and Joe Biden and that part of the bill has been paid.

The eRumor began circulating in August, 2008.

Bruce Riddle is a Certified Public Accountant whose was hired by Biden’s 1988 presidential campaign to prepare required financial disclosures. Riddle said he never got paid $15,000 that was owed.

Riddle is also affiliated with a jet charter company that he said Biden used in a presidential campaign but after the campaign ended, Biden failed to pay $150,000 in costs for chartering jet flights.

Joe Biden, in his latest unsuccessful run for President, chartered over $150,000 worth of air time. He PAID ZERO. He continues to refuse to pay stating his race is over and he is out of money. He never once complained about his flights. Joe Biden is a rich man. He could pay.

Joe Biden is a liar and a cheat. I know it first hand. Character is what life is all about. Joe Biden is a man of bad character and sets a bad example for America.

I feel compelled to share this dark side of a man who asks for your vote and trust.
