Alright everyone, I was going to get off of the political tip and get back to our regularly scheduled programming of relationship and parenting topics but then McCain goes and does this. Are you serious? The I still wasn’t going to say anything but every channel I turn to has these republicans using their talking points all reciting the same script. She’s experieneced, she’s a maverick, he’s a maverick for picking her, blah blah blah.

How about the population of her state is the size of Autsin, TX or the fact that she’s under investigation. Or how about the fact that she’s only been the governor for 2 years and has a baby that’s only a few months old. As someone at my job pointed out, don’t you think she took maternity leave? So let’s subtract from that 2 years. I’ll take a city council person from a large city before a governor from a place that doesn’t have a sizeable population. Alright enough rambling.

BMWK family, what do you think of this VP pick? Do you think she’ll get Hillary’s followers that are faking on Obama? Were you surprised? Does it scare you that if elected this inexperienced woman is next in line to be the President behind a man that’s over 70 years old and has had health problems in the past?

You can’t bring up experience, she has more than Obama. At least on paper. Obama better do something quick cause his numbers are not looking good and unfortunately there are a lot of woman that will vote for her cause she’s a woman.

The pick wasn’t smart but strategic. They know the states and areas that they need to win, and she very well may appeal to the people in those areas.

What numbers aren’t looking good? They’ve never used anyone that I know in those polls. Numbers don’t mean anything.

Its just a plot to get Hillary’s voters to swing to her but as soon as they reailize her positions and that she’s the total opposite of Hillary that won’t work. Actually CNN said on their website most of the women that were commenting were saying they felt insulted that McCain would try this just to get their vote.

And she has experience doing what? Gov. of Alaska for two years (no one lives in Alaska) and the mayor of a small town called Wasilla was the bulk of all of this experience? Anyone that tells me that has got to be kidding.

Wasilla is a city thats 12 miles large and had less than 5500 people living there after the 2000 census was done. As of 2006 Alaska only had 670K compared to 12.8 million in Illinois. Let’s put Alaska in perspective, it has 670K people, Washington DC which is only 67 miles large has 588K. There are almost as many people living in little DC as the entire state of Alaska.

How will she deal with urban areas and big cities? She’s never had to deal with that. How has her experience as the mayor of a town the size of a large high school or a very small college prepared here for President?

Here’s my last question. Would you feel comfortable with her being the President of The United States?

They take polls in battlegroud areas, not states that they assume are going to swing red or blue based on past elections. There are a few key states that this next president needs to get in order to win. That’s why you see Obama and Mccain in CO, MN, PA, and OH. Why campaign in states like TX when you know it’s gonna go red.

She was a mayor, a governor, and a company exec. Obama lists being a community organizer, a city councilman, and senator on his resume and is running for president not vice president.

People are not voting for someone because they want them to deal with urban areas and big cities they want someone who can deal with all people. To date old white men make up the majority of people that vote. Do you think they care about minorities?

Everyone needs to vote, don’t think that Obama has this in the bag. I like it when they say it’s close cause hopefully it’ll motivate people to vote and get others to do the same. Remember everyone thought Kerry was gonna win 4 years ago and look what happened.

I see your point Na. I know people who think Obama has this thing in the bag, but rememebr we have an electoral vote not a popular vote. I am telling everyone I know to vote and suggesting mail in ballots if they know they can’t get to the polls.

They need to keep to the issues and dismiss Palin. She’s the exact opposite of Hillary. That was a strategic move cause nobody saw that coming. Everyone was like who is this lady. Biden is gonna kick her a** when they debate though. Also, I heard that Palin’s 17 y/o daughter is pregnant. This was reported by a local Alaskan reporter.

I live in WA state, we know all about Alaska and there corrupt politicians. The news media needs to talk about that.

The selection of Palin should be an insult to Hillary supporters.She against everyone that Hillary stands for. She’s against Pro-choice and is basically using her disableed infant son as prop in most of the photos that I have seen.

Also, to The Dad for her youungest child, it’s being “reported” that she went back to work after two days.

After doing some more reading up they said her two years on the job is more like 1.5.

@Na- like I said I don’t know anyone in those battle ground states or anywhere else that has been polled.

Like I said above mayor of a city with less than 6K people means nothing to me when it comes to running the country. I’d rather have someone that ran google or hp, that would she me more experience. It’s also being reported that the city is still in financial trouble after a bad deal that went down during her tenure as mayor.

And it does matter that she’s running for VP especially if the guy in front of her is 70+ with a medical history that would be holding one of the most stressful jobs in the world. She’s would be one heart beat away as they say.

Dealing with all people means dealing with urban areas and big cities (most big cities are majority white or becoming that way anyway, especially nowadays that most major cities are pushing minorities out.

I don’t take anything for granted because I know they’re willing to do whatever it takes, regardless of whatever that is to get back in that white house. If everyone you know goes out to vote that day still don’t be surprised at what could happen.

I thought it would be funny if McCain chose Hillary for his running mate. But he chose a woman who’s inexperienced and totally not qualified by any stretch of the imagination to take over the reigns of this country when he croaks. When I read his pick I just laughed and laughed and laughed. I’m more than certain now that McCain shouldn’t be president, because when his old self croaks Palin is one of the LAST people I’d want to take over.

And as for being a maverick, this is just another person who will (ab)use her power to get her way, which is why she’s being investigated, which is why she turned on fellow Republicans – because she had something to gain from it. She’s just a Hillary wannabe who can’t compare to the real thing. Where she really loses me (and others who feel the same way) is her putting her career ahead of her infant child who will need more care than if the child wasn’t born with downs syndrome.

At least with Biden I don’t feel that this country would be screwed if he ended up taking over the presidency. Note: I have nothing against the fact that Palin is a woman, I have issues with her inexperience given that McCain’s got one foot and 4 toes in the grave. But I do think she only got the nomination because she IS a woman and it’s a ploy to appeal to Hillary voters to vote for McCain.

I love all the comments. What mother goes back to work only days after giving birth to even a healthy child. Her job could not have been in dier sraights that she would get fired if she took 6-12 weeks to heal her body and bond with her newborn . I don’t know any 44 yr old woman having babies, Only if it is her first not her fifth. I know she does not believe in abortion and she did know before hand that her child would be born with Down Syndrome. Not a reason to abort to me for any mother. I know a young man at our local grocery. He has DS and once I went in there and he told me to smile. Another time I went in there and he said ‘You look like you need a hug” We gave each other a hug. He is just a neat kid that makes you feel better after a hard day and you don’t look at him any differently. I wonder if Mrs. Palin believes in birth control. I know Mormons and Catholics don’t I found it sad and funny at the same time in reading the comments that Nicole mentioned an Alaskian reporter reported that her 17 yr old daughter is pregnant. In my best Flavor Flav “WOW! To me this is more reason that Mrs. Palin should spend more time at home raising her children. Girls get pregnant out of rebellion or lack of attemtion and lack of parents beliefs about birth control. Don’t think your kids are not having sex because you told them no or because they have not asked you for birth control.

McCains choice should have been Mitt or Condi.

This is the same Palin that said just last month that the VP position was unproductive and one whose responsibilities she’s clueless. Unorthodox? Yes. More qualified than either Obama or Biden? She may be a better shot than either of those two (or Cheney), but no Elizabeth Dole, KBH (R-TX), or Condi.

All that said, Newsweek pointed out that unless Barack can win a southern state, he has to win 70% of the remaining electoral votes. Pretty unlikely. Sad to say, but get ready for the third term.

@Anna, I agree. I’m a mother of two and one on the way, no way in Sam Heck would I compromise my family’s well-being for my own political ambitions. She’s being investigated for unethical use of power by trying to fire her ex-brother-in-law. That right there shows mean thats she vindictive and if she can abuse that small amount of power, can you imagine running a country!!! NO WAY NO HOW NO McCain/Palin

The one good thing about him picking Palin is that he just gave Obama the presidency. THANKS old man. She has a 17 year old daughter who is pregnant, her husband and her are under investigation for her trying to get all of her family off the hook from doing criminal activity, and she tried to get her sister’s ex-husband fired from his job so he didn’t have employment so the judge would rule against him in the custody battle and don’t believe them when they say she voted against the ‘bridge to nowhere’. And look at Alaska, how much corruption is in that little space? And she fought against corruption. But she is for drilling in a wildlife conservations area where if they drill all of the animals will die. I mean, whatever. And not to say anything against kids with this problem, but her baby has down syndrome. She needs to be at home with her dang kids. I am with Linda, I have five kids and I barely have time to take a shower let alone campaign for VP. I mean, my son is 18 and he’s still a virgin and daughter is about to be a mom. See, that right there says she needs to be at home. And, not saying that women should be at home, but you need to raise your kids. My husband and I sacrificed great jobs when our children were young because I have a motto: If you are there for them when they are young, you won’t be bailing them out of jail when they are grown. I mean, come on!!! THIS IS OUR MOMENT (DEMOCRATS) THIS IS AMERICA’S MOMENT!!! THIS IS A MOMENT FOR CHANGE!!! EIGHT IS ENOUGH!!!

OK this pic got my political juices flowing. I cannot believe the gall of him to think he can reep the female vote of Hiliary support by picking this crazy women. Have you seen/heard the you tube video of her laughing as these dudes call another women a Bi-ach. I dont know too many women in public service that would do that. Not on air and you know you on air. I had to put it on my blog because it just makes me pissed. He has gone on and on about Sen.Obama’s lack of experience but he picks this chick who has a few yrs of experience. I have a 4month old. She got nothing done the last 6months and she needs to be home with her baby now and go sit down.
