The Princess And The Frog – Trailer

The trailer for the Disney kiddie flick, “The Princess and The Frog” has dropped on the web. You can see it below. If you remember we talked about it a few weeks back. If not you can click here to get caught up.

BMWK, so what did you think? I know it was kinda short but are you taking your kid to see it? I know some of you have grown kids but if they were younger would you drop the money to see it?

I am so conflicted on this movie, on one hand I think that it is playing into stereotypes and I really don't want to take my daughters to see it. I also know that if this movie does not do well we will not see anymore movies featuring African American characters. they will say "see we told you this would not sell no one wants to see an African American princess" That is not true, I would love for my girls to have a princess from Disney that looks like them. I have a 8 and 6 year old, my 6 year old loves the Disney princesses but I really don’t like buying my daughters dolls that don’t look like us. Not to make a long post, but I have issues LOL I grew up around a lot of white people that did not let me feel good about being black, so I teach my daughters to be proud of our dark skin. I will probably take them to see the movie but we will definitely talk about the movie so they can ask questions and voice any concerns if they have any. I am hoping that it will not be as bad as I think it will be.

@Mommyagain30 - I can see where you're coming from. We'll probably go see it because our 6 year old is bananas for the Disney Princesses but I hope they don't try any funny business in the movie. ;-)

I will take my 3 year old daughter to see the movie because I know how important "images" are for our little brown girls! She is always talking about princess this and princess that, so although it may not be the greatest film- what an amazing colorful impact on our little brown girls and BOYS! This is the very reason I created a website (myas-place.com) in honor of my little girl and those childen that look like her. These seeds have to be planted at an early age in order to make a greater impact in the lives of our children. I'm going on an on because this is where my heart is...
