Bottled Water Gets Hit By The Recession

The economy is in the toilet and one of the country’s best performing industries is even feeling the crunch. That would be bottled water. According to this article, bottled water sales are growing much slower than expected and some speculate on a bunch of reasons but basically me and the author seem to think people can’t afford it. It is a luxury right, when you can get the free stuff (not really free but…) out of the tap?

The wallet/pocket book crunch is on and everyone is feeling it for the most part in one way or another. I really wish daycare prices would drop to reflect that but… anyway.

BMWK, how are you feeling the crunch? What have you had to give up or cut back on? When do you think this mess will be over?

i am now leery of bottled water since i learned that most bottled water is simply tap water from some other place! there's nothing special or different about it unless your home tape water is especially bad.

I drive a Chevy Uplander so gas, especially this past summer, was draining our pockets like crazy. We still went out and did what we wanted but I definitely *felt* the hit. Prices dropped a bit but I live in Los Angeles so it is still ridiculous. As far as cutting back I buy McDonald's iced coffee for $2 instead of Starbucks for $4. I also started doing my own pedicures and I braid and twist my own hair which has saved me A LOT of money. I don't see an end to this until the winter at the earliest. But then heating bills will be what gas bills were this summer Our kids are small so we haven't had to really cut back on anything related to them. I nurse my newborn so that has also saved us money.

Bottled water is nothing more than tap water filtered and conviently packaged. I got a $65.\week raise this year but with the price of gas and food it feels like a 5 cent raise. Am I cutting corners, yes. I use baby oil to flat iron my hair, not anymore. I went to the store to buy some baby oil and they wanted $1.69 for a generic small bottle. I looked in my kitchen cabinet and poured some vegatable oil in a small bowl and this is my replacement(for baby oil.) LOL. On a good note, I guess,. I went grocery shopping today and it was front door parking and no waiting in line. In and out in a few minutes. Ppl can't afford food. Usually I have to park far away and get in the store and all the carts are outside. I look at it as the "glass being half full". But being my wallet is always empty I guess even I can't convience myself that things are ok.

Thanks to being pregnant and not being able to really drink water from the tap anywhere and my pregnancy induced acid reflux, I am single handedly keeping the bottled water industry (pick a brand, I've bought it in the past 6 months) alive and well. It's expensive and I feel so guilty in this economy spending so much money on bottled water, but there's really nothing I can do about it since I have to keep hydrated somehow. But otherwise, it would be a different story and I wouldn't buy any. tinas last blog post..God Must Really Like Me!

Ok BMWK fam. I am so happy. this web site is my family so i want to share. My sister is a grandmother before me. (sibling riveraly never gets dull)I have a great niece via her 21 yr old son. My own 23 yr old child is in Cleveland getting her masters degree. Tell me if anyone saw on thier local new about a 22 yr old selling her virtue for $250,000 because her step dad took her school money and ran. She has passed a lie test to prove that she is still a virgin and is willing to take a medical exam to prove her virtue. Is she a high class hooker or a woman who forgot to buy a vowel. Woman do ho themselves out every day for thier kids or a higher education. She wants a masters in marriage and counseling. I called my child to say that she has mail here. She said open it. It is a license from the state of Ohio that reads. " Counselor, Social Worker Marrige & Family Therapist Board. Now to remind you, my child is in school right now to get her masters. Why should/could a 22 yr old want to give her virtue away for $250,000 when my child works 2 jobs and is on the deans list and still can manage to spend time with/call mom. Wow is all I can say. Also to add, the one paying $250,000 for her losing her virtue.I guess it is a guy thing and as long as he can say he was her first and had money to bid on her it's ok. @TheDad, we know the genders are wired differently but is there a limit? A womans body is her temple, but to auction it off is mind boggleing to me, She can make money working at a strip club and dancing on the poll. No sex involved and white men will just like to marrry her and take care of her Remember Anna Nicole Smith? Sorry for the ranting, but I am so sick of ppl losing morals vs. money. I do remember the song "what Ppl Do For Money". I will end my commet by saying "What are we doing to/for our children? SMH with embarassment that a 22 yr old child is so vocal about allowing someone to pay r to lose her virtue. I thought that when you are willing to lay up with the oppsite sex that it is willing and loving. Now to say that it's done and I called my bank and the check cleared. WOW. I know I over love my kids, but where is this childs mother? Trying to cash in on her child being scorned and the sleeze ball she married? Mommy Dearest. any mom will not let her child hang in the balance. Nothing wrong with telling youe child to get a job and an educaion. My kids should be making more money than me and I don't care how many jobs it takes. I have my certificates and degrees. Their life is not mine but thier representaion of me doesk go back to home training and morals each and every time they walk out my door or theirs.
