Does “The Win” Inspire You?

Yesterday on the way home I heard Rev. Al Sharpton on the radio giving his take on the historic Obama win. Rev. Al said he thinks this win has raised the bar for black America. He noted how can a rapper call a woman a black woman a B#$%@ when a black woman is in the white house. (I know they still will but you get what I’m saying). I’ve overheard a few folks say that this has inspired them to do bigger and better, filled them with a sense of extra pride and inspired them to take it to a new level.

BMWK, what about you? Has this win inspired you to work harder on yourself, your business, your marriage, your kids? Tell us about it.

Does then win inspire me? Yes, definitely. It makes me feel very hopeful for not only my future but my son’s future. The day after the election it even seemed as if “Black People” were a lot less edgey, and that felt great! We all were smiling.

This victory confirmed to me that there are great black men out there, men that have aspirations for greatness in their personal and professional lives. While I already knew they existed, becuase my dad was one, sometimes I become disappointed after numerous dates with frogs. I aspire to have a relationship like my mom and dad and the new president and first lady.

Also Michelle inspires me tremendously. She supports her man and family and has also been very sucessful in the business world, and does it while looking fashionable. She is a “superwoman”, a REAL Claire Huxtable. One day I hope to be the same, just need to find my man first.

I was inspired along time ago with the marriage and the love felt with Mr. and Mrs. Obama. A beautiful, powerful black married couple who instantly took the world under their wing.

We do have to remember that white ppl have always had a white man in “The White House”. Now some are feeling threatened and confused.

I read a coment on another site that made me smile. “We did not get our 4 acres and a mule but we have a black man in “The White House.
Now if that does not make up for reperation, I don’t know what will.

This victory has definitely inspired me, and will continue to be an inspiration for many years to come.

Personally I didn’t support Obama because he is Black. I supported him because he is a Black man with a true vision. If it had been a purple, green, or yellow man with the same vision for change, I would have supported him also.

Adversely, I am so proud to live in a country of 50 states and a district, over 300 million people, and almost 4 million square miles of land and water that are all under the leadership of an African American man.

Black people can do absolutely anything.

To me, this gives hope to other minority groups in our country, that they too can do anything in this great land of opportunity.

May God continue to bless this country, and may you each continue/begin to keep our President-elect, Barack Obama, in your prayers.

It’s great that we’ve come far enough as a people to put race aside, and really look at the character of person rather than making judgment based on skin color.

I’ve always had dreams and aspirations, before Obama was elected and will continue to do so. I’ve never felt limited, but I’m sure there are those who have. I don’t see how Obama being president is going to change that? People should aspire to do great things whether the president is black, white, or any other color.

Now on is it inspiring, but it also gives a great sense of pride and hope! My parents speak of not believeing in their lifetime that their would be an African American as PRESIDENT…!!! On a grand scale, unlimited possibilities!
The first family is a beautiful IMAGE, for ALL and especially African Americans!
Let’s see how powerful his image really is! Change doesn’t happen over night, but it happens and it has start somewhere… why not with the White House!
