The Mom Is a Facebook Addict?

I (TheMom) am officially addicted to Facebook.  And yes, I know Facebook is old news…But it is new news to me. TheDad setup a Facebook account for me.  He really did not expect that I would latch on to Facebook the way I did.  He has setup accounts for me before….like Twitter.  My Twitter account is pitiful!!!  I have like 2 people following me and TheDad is one of them.  I don’t know when was the last time I signed on to Twitter.  And this is a touchy subject…..but one time I had this great idea for my own blog (separate from this one.)  I was sooo excited and so was TheDad.  He created that blog for me and I wrote like 5 posts.  Needless to say, TheDad snatched my blog off of the server…he said I was embarrassing him.  And Myspace..what is that!!   But I am on Linked-in and I frequent my Linked-in account every so often.

But back to Facebook.  I am a true addict. I have been a member of Facebook for about  3 weeks now and I love it.  I love reaching out to old friends, looking at their profiles and pictures, and I really love the status comments that people make all day. When I wake up, I stop by my desk and check out Facebook.  Periodically throughout the day, I am checking Facebook.  And now I am on a mission to have more friends than TheDad.  TheDad has lots of friends on  Facebook and when he looked at my profile the other day…he sent me a message…”Bless your heart with your 47 friends”   What…is he clowning me???? How dare he!!!  The challenge is officially on now.  Every chance that I get, I am searching for people that I may know from high-school and college to add as my friend.  However, I am not looking for folks from work yet. I don’t know if I want them looking through my personal stuff. There are actually only a few people from work that I  would want as  friends…but I might just have to resort to asking my co-workers to be my friends if I am ever going to catch up with TheDad.

So.. I gotta go, I’ve got work to do….I have a long ways to go if I am ever going to catch TheDad!!!

You are the weakest link when it comes to Facebook. Goodbye! PS You are my unnamed brother will never have as many friends as me. I'm just a likeable person. But keep trying. Bless your heart.

Wow...see, that's why I like websites like this. I don't have to worry about all that competition. I got a myspace account like two years after my husband did, and I had more friends than he did within two weeks. LOL I cancelled my account for the very reason themom is addicted to facebook. it was too much of a distraction for me. For the record, thedad, i think themom has it out for you, and she'll catch you sooner than you think. just because you got a head start doesn't mean much.

I could abandon computers totally. Go straight pen and tablet, break every keyboard I use and she still couldn't catch me. Her best bet is to login to the Black and Married With Kids facebook account and pretend all of those people are her direct friends. LOL

I am definitely the same way!! I am officially a Facebook addict (about 2 months now), and I know I am WAYYYY behind the curve on this one. Now I'm on it virtually all day and it's definitely killing my productivity!

I forwarded this email to my husband...he just teased me because he said he could tell I was on FB because my face lit all up like a crackhead! I canceled my myspace acct. for the same reason as Harriett...I love FB...but it is rather time consuming...FB is the DEVIL!

I am laughing so hard at the competition between TheMom & TheDad. My husband and I are also competitive, it makes for fun times. I don't have a facebook account. I wish I did. I have an accout with "Classmates" that costs $52/yr., and I only get on it 3-4 times a year. I figured the price was worth it if I could contact someone from high school. I will not be renewing my subscription. Facebook her I come. PS, I am addicted to this site.

I'm still struggling with a facebook phobia(I really try not to ever use my full name on the internet so facebook makes me nervous). Someday maybe I'll get over it but I'm glad you are enjoying yourself!

@Yolanda Use a different name, like an alias. Some people do that. I joined blackplanet a long time ago. Don't go on there hardly ever. Then got on myspace about 2 years ago. Don't go on there that much. Joined facebook like last year....LOVE IT! Even if you can use an alias and not your real name, I like that most use their real names. Then I know exactly who I am adding and if I don't know them I don't add them.

@Yolanda - I set up a FB account for the site: http://www.facebook.com/people/Blackand-Marriedwithkids/1538066119 and a personal account but the personal account is only for friends and family. You just need to make sure you lock it down so only people you've approved as friends can see your updates and pics. You could keep the two totally separate. Just don't get hooked like my wife. She ain't lying when she says she's addicted.

...And I thought I was the last one on the planet to get on Facebook. I actually started about a month ago and now have 35 friends. I put my husband on to it and within a week he has over 200 friends. He clowns me regularly about not having friends. I credit most of his friends to him growning up in the city (DC) and knowing alot of people and thru playing football in college. I on the other hand went to school in the suburbs and pretty uch kept to myself. With that being said, most of the friends that I have on Facebook were gathered from his friend list, lol! They are either mutal friends or his family members. I'm fine with that though.
