That was so powerfull. I am so glad I had a tissue close by. Ppl do forget that our skin is our "shell". We come in all shapes, sizes and colors. For the great grandson of the man who hired "Liite Man" at the age of 6 to understand it all and go on tv to be sincere about such "history" to share takes guts. Little man mentioned how some blacks moved up north to get away, my dad did that. My dad is 2 yrs. older than Little Man and I wonder if he knew him. Of course I will ask him tomorrow. In Mississippi do they still "lynch" I thought that they tie a black man to the back of their truck and basically "drag" them alive. My dad does not talk about Mississippi much, only that he will never go back and visit his birth place. I am so pleased to know that Little Man finally retired.
I hope any teacher or parent who clicked on this site will want for our kids to see this video, today or tomorrow or a black history lesson. Little Man has been married to Eva Mae for 57 yrs and they had 13 kids. I do not want to hear that a black man can't get married, have a job and still make it work. I say to all "man up/woman up" and do what you have to do to make it work. I know divorce is an option in this day and time but you divorce the spouse not the kids. Little Man is a great example of "how to do it right, make it work/happen and keep it going. I love inspiring stories. Little Man did mention that he voted for Obama.
I am the niece of Littleman Presley, and I was born and raised along with all my cousin on this same place and I was amazed by his story because it taught me something about that nickname, because i always thought his mom had gave him that nickname. I also chop cotton all my youth day in those same fields. I think it was very niece of that guy to do this story. He always was a hard and loyal worker and he take care of all of his family member as a father finger to us who father wasn"t around like me. He and his wife who is my mother sister took care of my mother until she pass away on may 19, 2008 and I will be forever graceful to them. Thank you cnn.
@lorene watson, Thanks for sharing, your uncle seems like a really cool dude. I have always told my husband that I would rather have a man with hard working hands vs a man with smooth hands. A man with hard working hands and a little dirt under the nails can soap up and get clean, a man with smooth hands and no dirt under the nails after a days work only worked to steal pensions, rob 401k's and delete health care for those who worked before him, all the while bringing hone a nice multi 7 figure bonus to him. This is the type of man that can wash his hands hundreds of times a day and still can't wash away the dirt that he did to others.
BTW: Your aunt passed away on my mothers bday. (my mom passed away when I was a kid). Your name Lorene is my mother-in-laws name.
I wish you the best and once again thank you for sharing and I would love more updates on "Little Man.".
