Travel Tuesday: Family Fun @ the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA!

Can’t wait for the weather to break? Need to warm up and shed all of that bulky winter gear?  Do you and your kids yearn for a ride down a giant water slide?  Well your wait is over…The Great Wolf Lodge is open and waiting to fulfill all of your Waterpark dreams!

My nephew Justin’s favorite, must visit every year vacation destination is the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA. Located three miles from Colonial Williamsburg and the worlds’ greatest outlet shopping center (The Prime Outlets), The Great Wolf Lodge resort is home to an 84° gigantic waterpark!  The suites are designed to capture the atmosphere of the Northwoods and outdoor life coupled with contemporary amenities.  The resort is just a 2 ½ hour drive from Washington, DC.  Since it is a giant waterpark, it is staffed by 100 Ellis & Associates certified life guards.  The motto of the Great Wolf Lodge is 84° plus 100% fun!

A few of the resorts popular attractions include ‘Beaver Tail Lake,’ which is a three feet tall wave that makes you feel like you are riding an ocean wave. High tide comes every ten minutes, kids love to ride the waves in inner tubes or just plain old body surfing.  The ‘North Lights Arcade’ and the ‘Great Clock Tower Rhythm of Nature’ animated show are also resort favorites.

To complete your waterpark adventure, suites are designed in a nature theme.  The ‘Wolf’s Den Suite’ is complete with a mini wolf’s den, a cave area with bunk beds for the cubs (what kids are referred to) to sleep in.  Cubs can rough it while watching movies or playing video games on their own 20” LCD TV and a private balcony/patio.  Other suite amenities include free wi-fi; a wet bar and complimentary park passes.   The ‘Quest Master Suite’ is where all of the magic comes to life.  The little magicians in your family are given two wands that can be used in the MagicQuest live action interactive game or in your suite to bring the magic chest, lamps and stars to life.  This theme suite also includes two queen beds, full size sleeper sofa, 27” TV and a semi-private living area.  This suite also features free wi-fi; a wet bar and complimentary park passes.

The Great Wolf Lodge is fun for the whole family.  Additional activities include mini golf, rock wall climbing, story time, family raft rides, and kiddie slides.  No resort would be complete without a spa. The Great Wolf Lodge has two.  ‘Elements Spa & Salon’ for adults and the ‘Scoops Kid Spa’ that specializes in ice cream manicures.

There’s something at ‘Great Wolf Lodge’ for everyone in the family.  There are twelve locations nationwide waiting to splash your family with some fun!  Visit their website for the latest vacation packages.
