ok, that's hilarious, because I've noticed that too w/my daughter and her friends, as insane as it seems! (I on the other hand, look like Nanook of the North, being raised globally with most of my childhood in Hawaii!) ;-)

As for the media analysis help, I'm dead serious. Ping me (amy at shaping youth dot org) or on our blog www.ShapingYouth.org

In fact, I'd love to hear from Lamar and Ronnie about the whole Chris Brown bit, as the teens I work with USED to be totally ga-ga over this heart throb (concert tees and all) and they've really dished out some backlash reverb on the Rihanna/abusive scenario to the point that they all just think he's 'sad' and 'lame' now.

Anyone tackled this topic well from a life lessons standpoint in terms of 'teaching moments?' I'd love to hear some dialog/critical thinking skills about the mixed messages being sent via pop culture (music/moviesmisogyny/MTV) pertaining to 'media/marketing's impact on kids'---I did a quick scan over on LaToya's search bar (anti-racist parent) but nothing popped up...

Granted this has nothing to do with snow-tubing and coats, but hey; media analysis and observational linkage routes in weird ways. ;-)

@ Amy, let me know where to go and I'll be there.
I was going to be real with my comment and state that white ppl don't wear coats(I am half white). I saw a kid with his mom Friday and the kid had no coat on and the mom was wearing shorts, it was only 58 degrees. In my head I came to the conclustion that "It's A White Thing". LOL.

Wow, Anna, you are observant...you should join me in the media analysis arena! We could use some help at our nonprofit! ;-)

This DOES look fun, and being in Ca., the lack of coats further appeals...(man, do I get cold, brrrrr)
