MSN:Barack Obama – “My First Date with My Wife”

In this article President Obama talks about his first date with his wife FLOTUS Michelle Obama.

I asked her out. She refused. I kept asking. She kept refusing.

“I’m your adviser,” she said. “It’s not appropriate.” Finally, I offered to quit my job, and at last she relented. On our first date, I treated her to the finest ice cream Baskin-Robbins had to offer, our dinner table doubling as the curb. I kissed her, and it tasted like chocolate.

I had known those student loans were going to get me a great education, but I had no idea they’d get me my first date with the love of my life.

Isn't it great to have an example of healthy marriage in the White House?! I'll probably get in trouble for this later, but I can't actually remember our first "official" date. I met my wife at a UCLA, Black Student Alliance meeting. I thought she was cute, but (man) when she opened her mouth to speak I was hooked! She spoke with simultaneous intelligence and sweetness. It was music to my ears! We've spent every day together from then on. In fact, our first day apart wasn't until about 3 years after we married - when I had to leave town for business. This is how you KNOW I loved my husband from the very first moment. Our first day was at Wal-Mart. Not the regular one, though - SUPER Wal-Mart. So that makes it okay. LOL. (To his credit, we were in a small college town and it was either that or go...to some other town.) Tara Pringle Jeffersons last blog post..Ask the YoungMommy readers: When to start discipline?

I actually met my husband online. We met at the Charlotte International Airport. Whenever I wrote him a letter, I would put the scented oil I wore on the envelope. At the time, it was white coconut oil. So I got off the plane, and he hadn't arrived yet, so I went down to the baggage claim area to get my rental car. He came down the escalator with his nose straight up in the air. Not because he was a snob, but because I had just put the white coconut oil on my neck as I was deplaning, and he followed his nose all the way around the airport to find me. LOL He took me to IHOP...we both ordered foood, but I ate, and he watched me (I guess a brother was just SMITTEN ROFL), then he took his car back to Winston-Salem,NC, and I drove down to SC to see my mama. Three months later, he moved to LA. He found his father while he was here visiting, and he also found his ministry. I was just a part of the entire package. That's his story, and he's sticking to it! LOL

Me and my husbands first date was to Houlihans Restaurant (ooh the delicious memories). Although it is nolonger there we frequently dined at the location close to Mazza Gallery, just outside of DC. I remember having him select my meal because I couldn't decide what I wanted. To this day I occasionally will ask him to pick my meal because I hate having to decide on something. The actual reason is usually we get so caught up in talking that I am usually not prepared when the waiter/waitress is ready to take our order, lol! I also recall on that first date he showed up to my mothers house with a half dozen long stem roses for me and a couple long stem roses for my mom as well. He was so thoughtful even back then. Although he was somewhat of a struggling college student he still managed to make a great impression on me and my mom by bringing her back a dessert from the restaurant! He was a keeper!

we had gone out a few times - lunch, movies. when he mentioned our "next date" i replied that a "friend" calls you from outside, while a "date" comes to the door. our first date was a few days later, when he came to the door.

For our first date we had already met but I was in town on business so TheMom scooped me from my hotel and took me to a soul food restaurant on a Poetry night. That was some of the worst poetry ever so we both were cracking up. Especially at this older guy that made a poem for his waitress that he wanted her to hear. I think everyone felt bad for her and this dude had stalker written all over him.

My first date with my husband was to a Chicago Cubs game. The funny thing was, I was and still am a die-hard White Sox fan. I never really cared for the Cubs, but I went to the game and had a wonderful time. When I first met my husband, I thought he was alot older than he is because he's so quiet and reserved and serious. When we got tot he game, he kind of let his hair down with me. We laughed and giggled and had a great time. It wasn't until about 4 months later that I told him I wasn't a Cubs fan, but I was just so excited to go to the game with him, it didn't matter.
