We’re Getting Old and The Toys Are Too

Our friends over at Toy Wishes Magazine pointed out the following to us:

Toy favorites across the US are aging before our eyes! Fan favorites such as Dora the Explorer and Strawberry Shortcake just got a toy makeover, does this mean the following toys celebrating milestone birthdays will resort to plastic surgery as well?

  • Pinocchio’s 70th Birthday
  • Barbie’s 50th Birthday
  • Star Wars 30th Birthday
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 25th Birthday
  • Sponge Bob’s 10th Birthday

Does this list start to make you feel old or what. I had no idea that Sponge Bob was even out for close to 10 years (I should have since I’m now forced to watch at least one episode every day.) Pinocchio’s nose has dry rotted and Barbie has hit the big 5-0.

What do you think about this list?

Toys aren't what they used to be... I wonder how old Transformers, GI Joe, Mr. Potato Head, Legos and Weebles are? I don't feel old...I feel like a Weeble (we may wobble, but we don't fall. LOL)

@ AAM You know...the big blow up oblong plastic toy that you could stand up and beat on, and it would wobble, but no matter how much you beat it to the ground, it would get back up. Check out the small ones at http://www.feelingretro.com/toys/images/weebles.gif. Weebles wobble, but they don't fall, AAM! You gotta check one out!
