That piece was excellent! I cannot wait for the documentary to come out! I think that the effect that the Obama’s marriage will be that our people will no longer have excuses for why that aren’t married or why their marriages don’t work.

People will no longer be able to say “I don’t know how a marriage works because I grew up in a single parent home” yadda, yadda, yadda. Obama grew up with a single parent and has seemed to excel in this area. Hopefully, this will enable our people to see that the reason that they aren’t succeeding in this area isn’t because of the institution of marriage, but because of the issues (lack of commitment, etc) that individuals deal with everyday.

Strong black families and strong black marriages have been around for a long time, look at our grandparents who are in their 70′s and older, look how they are still in love with each other. Go Lamar and Ronnie and President Obama and 1st lady Michelle for bringing it out to the front lines. The media believes in negativity and all we see is “are you the father” shows where you can get a free hotel and plane ride to embarass not only yourself but Black America…..We must support and demand the positive side of Black America. Yes the Black family is still strong. Husbands do love their wives and Wives do love their husbands…..wear the t-shirt proudly and and the number of years to it also so everyone can see that Black Marriages are alive and doing great!.
