Yes, you read it correctly…without the kids!!! I know what you are thinking…how awful for her… She has to spend three days and two nights at one of Disney’s luxurious resorts without her husband and kids. Woe is me!! Sike. I am looking forward to every minute of this weekend.
Actually, I will be attending the Walt Disney World African American Mom Blogger Mixer! The mixer will bring together key Mom Bloggers to meet each other, and will give Walt Disney World an opportunity to dialogue and support what we do as Mom Bloggers. Walt Disney will give us a whirlwind yet pretty comprehensive tour of what’s available at Walt Disney World: 40 square-miles of family fun. I am so very thankful to Walt Disney World for this opportunity and I am looking forward to meeting the other mom bloggers.
However, these next few hours will be very hectic as I prepare to leave: 1. packing, 2. making sure that I have proper child care arrangements for the kids (as I am normally the one that sees them off to school/daycare and picks them up too) and 3. wrapping up a few tasks from work..since tomorrow is a vacation day for me.
And yes, that is a short list. Normally I would have a list a mile long that would include things like: 4. wash and fold clothes, 5. iron a few outfits for each of the girls and set them out for your hubby, 6. go to the grocery store and make sure that the house has all of their favorite foods,…the list would go on and on and on. And by the time I actually made it to Walt Disney World, I would have been exhausted. However,I have started to follow my own advice which is: don’t try to do everything yourself. We have written several posts about overwhelmed mothers and 2 of the key messages from those posts are: 1.know when to ask for help and 2.make sure that you give yourself some “me” time. Well I am doing both of those things this weekend – my husband is helping and I am going to have the time of my life…living it up at Walt Disney World with a handful of other Mom Bloggers. And now that the time for me to leave is drawing nearer, my theme song for the weekend has started to play in my head:
Set it off on the left, y’all
Set it off I suggest, y’all
Set it off, s-s-set it off.
Walt Disney is preparing an itinerary featuring special activities designed with us Moms in mind. Please stay tuned as I share this wonderful adventure with our BMWK family.
HIS VIEW:
I don’t even know if this post called for a his view or not but I’m giving it anyway. Here’s 2 cents while I’m representing the fellas. How unthoughtful of Disney not to include the dads, they know we are the big ballers, shot callers, lol. When the mom is missing you know who on night 1, all curled up in that lonely bed in the fetus position don’t be calling me and my kiddies. And whatever you do please don’t call with a bunch of directions. (Fellas how come every time they leave they try to leave you a keep busy list?)
I’ve got a weekend of maximum enjoyment and satisfaction planned for me and the little ones. I feel like Jon without Kate (wow that one might get me in trouble later, lol) free to make it happen at a moments notice with no mommy planning, fellas do you hear me? Can you dig it? Can you dig it? Can youuuuuu diiiggggg ittttt?
Nah for real baby don’t be gone too long, have fun and don’t call us every 5 minutes for progress reports like you do when you leave the kids with your momma
. And a special thank you to the folks at Disney for giving our momma a weekend of fun, she deserves it.
