50 Million Pound Challenge Week 5

We’re back for our weekly update on the State Farm 50 Million Pound Challenge. It’s not too late to join our team that we have going on their site. Here is an update on how we’re doing so far:

HER VIEW:
I’m starting to get back on track since my setback I told you about last week. To get back on track I started at the grocery store. While shopping I selected plenty of fruits, vegetables and salads to eat throughout the day. A lot of my choices were based on the meal plan from the website. I’m looking forward to seeing positive results from my choices beginning this week. I’ll have to make sure I keep control of myself with Mother’s Day buffets on the horizon. Pray for me yall. :-)

HIS VIEW:
I feel like we’re taking steps in the right direction since joining the 50 Million pound challenge. I think we’re recovering from our out of town trip. I will tell you with three small children doing something like this really takes a commitment. I can see healthier food choices popping up all around :-) . Just last night Ronnie hooked up some salad as part of our dinner meal and I can’t tell you the last time I ate salad unless it came with my food at the Olive Garden our Outback…lol.

I’ve commited myself to trying to do some type of physical activity everyday. We’ve made summer goals for ourselves and as you can tell the summer is creeping up quick. Here are a few tips from Dr. Ian in regards to physical activity that are on the site (have you joined yet?).

  • Do some form of cardiovascular activity for at least for 35 minutes, 3 days a week. If this is too much for you at the beginning, start slower and increase to this level of activity as your body becomes acclimated. If you’re more advanced, or as you get used to the increased level of activity, try to raise this to 5 days a week for 40 minutes each day. The important thing is to start and stick with it!
  • Switch up your activities. If you do walking one day, then try bicycle riding the next time you exercise. The more you change your exercise, the more you’ll get out of it.
  • If possible, try to do as many of your exercises in the morning as you can. Then, if you have time, do it again in the evening—a second session to help burn even more calories (though not too close to bedtime, or all that excitement could keep you up).

BMWK family, give us your update? Our team on the 50million Pound Challenge is making some progress led by “eldubble”. If you haven’t already, be sure to join our team and we’ll see you next week with another update.
