This is touchy... I understand that each child is individual but the group statistics cannot be ignored. If one or two groups are underperforming (which is detrimental to those students educationally and puts your entire school at risk of being closed) then wouldn't it behoove you to address the unique disparities that exist for that group? I mean this is why we have affirmative action...right? And what would be a viable alternative? I don't think putting all of the races together in one room and addressing it would be beneficial ("Hey kids, european americans...you guys did fine...African americans and latino americans...yall didnt do so well"). Whats a more tactful way to do this? Does anyone know with No CHild LEft Behind...do the kids get back their individual scores? If so then the school could work extra with those with the lowest scores. If it is only aggregate scores and broken down into racial subgroups then it would be difficult to avoid addressing the problem according to the subgroups.

@LaKeyshaF ~~~~~ Well said. I just want to know why Ms. Cooper was chosen to be the spokes person for the principal. Is the principal white? This was wrong on all levels. But as "said" mentioned, it was passed by Congress. We have a "Board of Education for a reason and LaKeyshaF, right we have affirmitive action for a reason, it's to equal out the platform.

I think this is stupid. The disparities that exist have more to do with what's happening in those communities and not the school system itself. joeblessings last blog post..New Blog Announced

This is reduntant. There was obviously a logical reason for why the principal did what he did. After the black woman from the school explained the testing process and how they actually come up with the statistics on the test scores. It does make sence to talk to each individual group, being that the results/stats of the testing are in coordination with your ethnicity. This is of course done this way because when a a professional group or firm wants to do research and wants to know, for example, how "x" amount of black students scored on a particular test, the database with the stats are easier to decipher if they are arranged in order of ethnicity and gender. The problem here is that white america is still racist and a question was only brought up because--as usual--THEY try to plaster every single racial incident over the television to get ratings. We've come from segregation to desegregation, yet we are surpassing that now to the point where the media will try to pull the R-card just to get a story. The media knows that the R-Cards gets viewers to watch CNN and FOX. After watching this, I sucked my teeth and said to myeslf "this is dumb, this story should have never been on the news in the first place." All I'm saying is there is something disturbing about someone or a group of folks always trying to blow this invisible race whistle, it clearly shows that racism dwells wherever the whistle is blowing from. I'm not a racist, so I don't constantly have my antennas up for the latest racial stories. I more so tend to be aware of what may appear to be clear injustice.(*sigh*)
