I am on my way back from attending Walt Disney World’s African American Mom Bloggers mixer. I was trying to fall asleep on the plane but it was too hard to try to sleep with my mouth closed. Yes…I sleep with my mouth open and it’s embarrassing..but I can’t help it. So here I am on this plane sitting between two women that I don’t know and I want to fall asleep. But each time I doze off, I feel my mouth open and I wake myself up. I knew that my husband really loved me when I would wake up a night to see him watching me and he would just kiss me and smile. But it’s too hard to try to keep my mouth closed so I decided to wake up and tell you about my fun filled weekend.
I truly had a magical time as Disney wined and dined me (and other mom blogger’s) and took us on a whirlwind tour of their properties. Thank-you Maria Bailey and Valika Shivcharran of BSM Media, and Laura Spencer and Leanne Jakubowski of Walt Disney World for making my time at Disney magical and making me feel at home. Also I would like to thank all of the other Mom Bloggers that attended the mixer. They were a wonderful group of women that made me feel like we were best girlfriends for a long long time. Many of them have very impressive blogs and websites and they were so happy to share their knowledge of blogging, social media, and technology. I have never been in a room with so many gadgets: blackberrys, T Mobile G1s, HD web camera’s, and laptops. These women stay connected to the internet and kept their followers apprised of our every move on Twitter. And even though we are moms, we did not spend the entire weekend talking about diapers, soccer, and dance class (well..we did a little bit.) These ladies were talking about how to design sites, and WordPress, and domain names, and Twitter..etc. (Oh yes and since the kids weren’t there..the conversations also got a little spicy at times. But I can’t tell you any of that. What happens in Disney stays in Disney..right ladies!!! Just kidding. But we did let our hair down and mixed some girl talk in with the techie talk.)
It was definitely an awesome networking experience!! I feel honored to have been chosen to attend this mixer with such an impressive and accomplished group of women. Below, I have listed all of the Disneymochamoms (as we called ourselves) that attended the mixer. Also stay tuned in the coming weeks, as we feature their sites on website Wednesdays here on BWMK.

I felt like a star from the beginning to the end. We all stayed at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort. And I have to tell you…I have been to Disney 3 times prior to this, but I have never stayed on a Disney property. I stayed at other resorts or I rented a house…but never at a Disney property.. It was a totally different experience to stay on an actual Disney property. Disney has over 23 properties and whether you stay at one of their value properties or their premier properties, you are treated like a VIP the entire weekend!! And the VIP service starts at the airport. Welcome Home – is what they say to you as soon as the first Disney cast member approaches you. I tell ya…if you have not stayed at a Disney Resort…you have to try it. They have properties for any budget that you may have. You can stay on one of Disney’s properties for a low as $82 per night (depending on the season.) That’s very affordable and I spent a lot more money at those other resorts and did not receive half of the amenities (such as free transportaton to all of Disney properties, extra hours in the parks before they opened and after they closed, and most importantly the exceptional customer service.) This sounds like one big Disney commerical..but it is all true.
Please check out the pictures that I took on my magical weekend. I am not a professional photographer…so I don’t know if I am doing Disney any justice with these pictures. But I wanted to share some of the magic with my BMWK family. Check us out tomorrow, when I tell you about the top 5 things I enjoyed about my weekend at Disney.
