Father’s Day in our nation’s capital promises to be an event to remember! In honor of the centennial anniversary, the National Partnership for Community Leadership (NPCL) in conjunction with nearly 40 other prominent fatherhood organizations nationwide will host the National Rally for Responsible Fatherhood on Behalf of America’s Children. Traditionally DADS get the short end of the stick. Much too often their hard work and unconditional love for children and family goes unrecognized, other than the occasional wacky necktie and crazy socks. This year, rally organizers are going against the norm by challenging ONE MILLION fathers and father figures to stand united and be a part of history by joining them at the father’s day rally in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, June 20th prepared to take an oath of “commitment” to their children and families to be RESPONSIBLE.
Rally highlights will include performances by Grammy Award winning and multi-platinum selling vocal group, All 4 One, singing their newly released single, “My Child”; Colours Performing Arts Group; and Native American ensemble, Standing Buffalo Singers. Confirmed speakers are Congressman Danny K. Davis (IL-07), event chair; Award-winning broadcast journalist, Ed Gordon (founder of “Daddy’s Promise”); World Decathlon Champion and 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Bryan Clay; Invocation by Pastor John K. Jenkins, Sr. of First Baptist Church of Glenarden; and DC Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, among other notables.
