What Would Yo Do?!? – DayCare Road Rage

rage

by Averagbro

[ Note: I tweeted about this in real time yesterday,
and given the response, decided to bring it over here for debate.
Forgive the choppiness, since I sorta did a lazy cut and paste job from
my tweets. I won't tell you what I actually did until later.]

This
morning, I saw one of the funniest things evar. I dropped my son off at
school as usual, and on way out the parking lot, some dbag in a big SUV
comes storming up behind me. There is road construction on the narrow
two lane road leading out, and this woman is behind me blowing horn and
flashing apparently not knowing that I couldn’t drive any faster if I
wanted to. As if her commute was somehow more important than mine.

After
a few minutes of tailing me, she finally gets so impatient she decides
to “go around” me. She yells something vile out the window as she
passes me speeding by on the shoulder. Naturally, I am like “WTF”, but what are you gonna do?

Then
suddenly, she hits a massive pothole off the shoulder and the truck
literally EXPLODES into a huge cloud of exhaust smoke!!! She musta
scraped the ground when she hit the pothole, and all the underpinnings
of her expensive SUV are suddendly strewn on the side of the road, as
her truck sputters to a stop.

So now this road rager’s truck is stranded… in the rain… on a rural roadside. What would you do?

BMWK what would you do? Would you stop to help this road raged lunatic, or throw the deuce and keep it movin’?

You know how the saying goes…two wrongs don’t make a right.

You would be surprised how seeing you humbly take the low road (no pun intended) can shame someone into thinking twice about what they do or say.

Besides…you never know what people may be going through that makes them do things that may very well be out of character for them.

Help the woman out…with a smile

No questions asked, JUST HELP HER OUT!!!

You gotta help her out. You never know what she was racing to get to.

I know we have some great readers but… I’m still surprised at the responses so far hmmmmmmm. No one thinks the other way?

The saved person in me says help the woman out. For real. She may have shown her tail, but dang…

The South Side of Chicago attitude in me says that heffa got exactly what she deserved! I like her nerve trying to get past me, and now look! Your tail is STUCK like CHUCK, and your SUV is to’ up! *shooting deuces*

That said, I’ll probably go with the latter response. It would be a great witnessing oppoortunity, and more effective in teaching a lesson in humility on both parts.

But I’m telling you…that South Side of Chicago thought process would definitely have to be fought off. The temptation for me to do that would be VERY GREAT. Just being honest. I’d probably have to say a quick prayer after stopping…in tongues…get my olive oil out and grease my scalp…do a dance. LOL I’d really have to fight to keep my mind right prior to helping her out.

I didn’t help her. I threw up two fingers and kept it movin’.

@AverageBro- I am so glad you were the realistic one on this blog. I wouldn’t helped her out either! She got what was coming to her. That was her lesson in humility not yours.

You know what I said on your blog LOL. I’m glad there are great, saved, God fearing people here who would help her out. Not me. I would’t have pulled over. I would have told everybody about it too! I’m just mean like that. Not to mention I can’t stand it when people tailgate me.

  • http://theyoungmommylife.com Tara

Yes, she was rude but still. What if she’s racing because she just got a call that her husband got rushed to the hospital? I don’t blame you, AB, because I know it would have taken every ounce of strength I had to keep from passing her by, but if someone needs help, I will help them.

I’ll be cussing and fussing the whole time, but I’ll help. LOL.

You know I honestly have pulled along side of her, took out my camera – snapped a few pics and skeeted on out of there…

The God in me knows that’s wrong, but I am far from perfect & while i know I need to work on my “helping hand”…. So it is what it is and she woulda been left out in the rain…

In the words of my buddy Curtis Jackson

“D*mn homey, in high school you used to be the man homey; wtf happened to YOU!”

I would have driven up, rolled down my window and asked her if she wanted help as kindly as I could. If she accepted, I’da helped her, if she was still vile or too proud to receive help, i’da kept it movin, lol.

I dont blame you for not stopping though.

Welcome. I would have been laughing at the same time offering if I could call her a tow truck. I love when ppl are weaving from lane to lane speeding only for us to end up at the same red light.

  • LaKeysha

I think all of us have experienced someone being nice/giving/forgiving towards us when we didn’t deserve it.

I don’t think its unrealistic to help. Its an act of grace and mercy knowing that we recieve that same thing everyday.

Besides whats the good of the golden rule if you’re going to do it backwards “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”…not…”Do unto others as they have already done to you”

Realistically speaking…No one is perfect and so depending on the circumstances it may be extremely hard for you to do…but its still good to do.

It reminds me of that one commercial…i think its insurance…where some person sees the first guy doing something nice for a stranger and that causes them to do something nice for another stranger and so on and u eventually see that the last person that did something nice actually did it for the first guy you saw in the commercial…they came full-circle…domino affect…if that makes sense.

@ LaKeysha – Exactly! Because if you don’t stop to help her, that messes up YOUR karma. Since I get flat tires like nobody’s business, I make it a point to be nice to everyone because I’d hate to be stuck on the side of the road somewhere for hours and hours where anything can happen.

Yeah…y’all better than me, because I’m keeping my black behind moving. Husband in the hospital? Don’t know what she’s going through? Yeah, okay–if that’s the case, why yell vile stuff out the window when you finally pass by? If there’s an emergency situation I’m racing to, trying to get around folk, the last thing I’m thinking about is yelling crazy at everyone I’m going around! So no, SHE was just being ugly. And it came back to bite her in the undercarriage (literally). Two wrongs may not make a right…but they daggone sure make it even, lol.

Now, if it were me, I wouldn’t have gotten all riled up when she passed around me and yelled her smart remarks. It would have been like, “Whatever–that’s her internal struggle,” lol. But once the pothole blows her ride up? That’s. What. Her. Behind. Gets. And I’m breezing right past her. Yeah, I said it, lol. Karma’s something else–and it’s all on her, not me. It may be nice to help someone like that out if that’s your thing, but it’s certainly not owed.

So I’ll be the one to admit–I’m not quite there yet with the “help her even though she tried to run me off the road” thing–and ain’t trying to get there no time soon, lol.

  • MissJay

    @Vee

That’s all I’m sayin’ lol. There was no reason to be cursin’ me if she really was in a hurry like that. And if she really was racing to the hospital she almost got a faster ride there with flashing lights or a loud propeller. Whenever I see someone weaving from lane to lane I always say “hope they get to where they’re going”.

  • LadyCiss

dueces up and keep it moving. no way i’m risking getting into an altercation while trying to be a good samaratan. i’d call the police to let them know there was a disabled vehicle…at the most. that’s real talk.
