One day before America celebrated it’s independence, one thousand people from various walks of life were able to experience the American dream when they became US citizens themselves at a Naturalization ceremony held in front of one of America’s most recognizable sites, Cinderella’s Castle at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida - A place where dreams really do come true. I talked with people from very different backgrounds and they all had one common answer when asked why did they want to become American citizens: “because of the opportunities.”

During the ceremony, emotions ran high as friends and family cheered for the soon to be citizens. The keynote speaker, Actor Andy Garcia, spoke about how his family came to the US from Cuba and the opportunities that are provided to us all in the United States. Following the ceremony, the new US citizens were led by none other than Mickey Mouse in a parade to the unveiling of Disney’s updated attraction, The Hall of Presidents.

For the first time, Disney was unveiling the newest addition to the Hall of Presidents: President Barack Obama. The attraction is truly breathtaking as animatronics (which can best be described as robots) go through a presidential roll call as all 44 presidents take the stage. Speeches are given by George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama who actually takes the oath of office right before your eyes!! If you have never visited the Hall of Presidents before, we highly recommend that you check it out on your next visit to Walt Disney World. And tell them that Lamar and Ronnie sent you :-)

Please check out the pictures from the ceremony here. And here is a link to a video from the ceremony.

Thanks to Laura and Disney for inviting us to cover this event!! We had a wonderful time and were happy to experience witnessing the Naturalization Ceremony. America is truly a land of opportunities and when you talk to the immigrants and hear about all that they have accomplished even before becoming US citizens it makes you think that there are no excuses for me not to take advantage of the opportunities provided to me in the US.

As always ….Disney hosted a first class ceremony complete with fireworks at the end!!

Please make sure you check out the Hall of Presidents on your next trip to Disney….it will bring you to tears to see Obama on stage with the past presidents!!
