make an active effort to remain a positive role model to kids. They need people to show them there’s another way. -MC Hammer

I am not sure why I always bypass the inspirational posts. I read todays and my mind wandered. Was I a positive role model to my kids? Hell no. LOL. I curse like a sailor and smoke like a chimmney. My kids don’t smoke but tell me “mom I have to cuss when I tell you this otherwise it won’t work”(they were teens and not 5) at least they ask first. LOL. I was a young mother and I can say ,I always when they were younger and still now that they are young adults get kudos for the way I raised my kids. I did not practice what I preached but my kids still respected what I told them. I must have done something right that stuck with them. I met a 31 yr. old grandmother Saturday. Ouch. I do think that I am a positive role model to my kids. I introduced them to a man that I later married that helped to balance out the female/male role model, we are married still living in the same home with young adult kids who most parents would have given them a bus ticket and a set of luggage when they turned 18. Our two Kling Ons are 19 and 21. If they were bad kids I would have kicked them out along time ago. lol. I will use my dads words when ppl ask him the same question. Dad says, “I did the best I could do at the time”. I know I did better than my dad did raising us. But I also know my kids will do better than me raising their own. It’s the cycle of life. I know in the future that my kids will make more money than me and hubby’s combined income, but being I don’t have “Bill Gates or Beyonce’s money it’s suppose to be that way. Parents sacrifice everything for their kids to do better than they did/are doing. Sorry for the long comment, but I know I have earned bragging rights when it comes to parenting. Parenting is not easy but it’s not the end of the world either. When raising kids it’s ok to tell kids the stupid things we did as teens or young adults. It makes us more “human” to them. To me a “role model” has to admit their faults. ” I did this_____________ I did that__________ and it’s not all it’s crack up to be. Kids do listen if the ppl in thier lives tell the truth.
