Communication Is The Key – Baby Style

Success! This is the feeling that Ronnie and I have had lately as we reached another milestone with the last of our children. We’ve been scratching off our list of things we won’t have to do or wait for anymore since we don’t plan on having anymore kids i.e. buying formula (holla if you hear me lol), washing bottles, always carrying someone because they can’t walk. Over the past few days we’ve reached a new milestone TALKING, well kinda.

It’s still mixed in with a lot of babble but the communication factor is there and we’re so excited that we just can’t hide it. Not only can our baby girl give us a clue as to what she may actually want and desire but it’s also opening up a door for us to get a glimpse of her personality.

Her arsenal of verbs, nouns and adjectives forms phrases such as:

Get Me Down (A popular term after dinner time when she’s in the high chair and doesn’t want to eat anymore)
I’m Finished (See above)
Daddy and Nommy (She’s been saying daddy since forever, it took her much longer to start saying mommy but she never quite got that right and still says Nommy. It even took us a long time to figure out that she was talking to Ronnie when she was saying that LOL)
Go Outside (When she sees the other girls hitting the door to have some fun in the sun, she wants to roll)
Good Morning (This is my favorite, she rolled out of bed the other morning and came around the corner and told me good morning Daddy unprompted. You gotta love it)

and of course all of the old standards like eat-eat, want drink, so on and so forth.

Awww, I'm still waiting for my son to start talking. He just kind of hurls himself at whatever it is he wants, with a little babbling mixed in. My daughter started talking FLUENTLY at 18 months. I mean like, "Mommy, I'm thirsty and would like some water" sentences. So if that's any indication, we're almost there! And I feel you about the formula bit! I never realized how cheap milk is! LOL.

My son is 11 months old and can already say about 10 words pretty clearly- one of which is "stop". Although I like when the kids reach the stage where they can communicate what they want without crying, in some ways I'm not in a hurry for him to start talking. Since we don't plan to have more children I'm content to let him stay in the little baby stages a little longer.

Our 18 month old LOVES the word "doggy". When she sees one, hears one (she copies them with her little "ruff, ruff") she completely spazzes out and runds around yelling "doggy" at the top of her lungs. Other than that, her "go-to" words are "bubbles" when she wants one of us to blow bubbles for her; "Mommy" and "Daddy" of course; and "Pee-Pee" when she hears one of us using the bathroom.

I remember when my kids, especially my girls started talking, only because they have not stopped. LOL. I have always thought that girls form words faster and get potty trained quicker than boys. @ Lamar. " (holla if you hear me lol)" I hear you about the formula and all the other expenses that go hand in hand with having a baby/toddler. My sons gf is pregnant and I will be a grandmother in January. Hubby wants to have a pamper party for my son(like a baby shower only with diapers). I am fine with that as long as the diapers are not newborn. I think my granddaugher will only be able to wear a newborn diaper after delivery and not on the way home from the hospital. LOL. I saw the sonograms and the 3D pics.

adorable! Yes, we couldn't wait to be done with formula! I do remember those first few words, which were of course da-da for both girls. Those were the days. My kids are at the stage now where all they do is talk, from sun up to sun down :).
