BMWK Update

What’s up BMWK family? It’s been a while since Ronnie or I have talked directly to you to tell you about what’s going on with the site and our other offshoot projects. Well here’s a quick rundown as we get close to the end of 2009.

  • Our documentary Happily Ever After is a constant on Amazon.com’s bestseller list for African American documentaries and has peaked as high as #3  on their overall AA films list. We just completed a four city tour of the film and now are scheduling smaller screenings with local churches, marriage organizations and groups across the U.S. so stay posted because we may be coming to a town near you real soon. If you haven’t gotten your copy yet what are you waiting for? Click here.
  • We’ll be redesigning the site again real soon. It’s about that time to launch BMWK ver 3.0. As we constantly try to evolve the site and keep it fresh we’ll be using a new layout that will hopefully increase your ease of use and make it easier for you read all of the new content we’ll be adding.
  • BMWK is looking for additional writers. If you have any interest drop us a line at info [at] blackandmarriedwithkids.com and we’ll give you the details. As we head into 2010 we want to make another leap in the amount of content we offer. When we first started off we were 1 post per day. Then we brought on a few great contributors and moved up to 3-4 per day now we’re ready for the next step. We want to become the Huffington Post of black marriage and we’re looking for people that want to be involved.
  • BMWK is turning 2 next week! It seems like an eternity but it’s only been two years. In this two years it’s been an amazing journey that has catapulted the site into becoming the #1 Black Marriage and Parenting site on the web! We thank you for being a part of that success and for embracing the community here on the site.
  • On that same note it’s time for some of the old heads from the early days to come on back. Kimh20s, Mrs. D, Constance, SingLikeSassy etc… do I have to keep naming names? LOL. You know who you are and we expect comments like the old days when we hit 2010. Jonesi this includes you the honeymoon is over, come on back now.
  • Over these two years I’ve committed to bringing you more video content but that hasn’t actually happened yet on a regular basis but it will soon. We’ll also be starting back up with the “Featured Couples” segment we used to run that was very popular and some of this will be video based as well.
  • We have two very big things on the horizon that we can’t share yet but just pray for us that everything comes through and I’m sure we’ll be making those announcements on the site within the next 2 months.

Thanks again for your support, your time and for truly making this a family that doesn’t just nit pick on each others comments and on the articles like a lot of blogs but that truly cares about the relationships and families that make up our community. Until next time…

-Lamar

You guys are such an inspiration and a true testimony of “walking in your blessing.”

I don’t comment much but trust me, I do follow!! <— representing the serious-dating-engaged-but-not-married folks. :-)

I guess I am a old head that has been around since the beginning. WOW!, and congrats on 2 yrs. All good deeds do get rewared and this site just proves it. I have mentioned that I love that you(the owners) Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky and Mike(LOL) allow others to write such meaningful thought provocating articles. You were not greedy and only wanted “your baby(idea) to be just yours alone. I may not remember how I found this site, but I am so happy I did. I vent sometimes, but I have learned so much in being a married woman because you opened your marriage up to us but I evaluated it that you were just talking to me and saying “hey Anna give hubby a break sometimes”. My in-laws as I have metioned many times have been married for over 50 yrs., but to have someone in my age bracket and married with a web site is a GOD SEND. I love my mother and father-in-law and love that he still calls his wife his bride. I love BMWK because we (and I say we because we are a family here) get comments from 50 yr olds. I love it. I want to buy my in-laws a computer for Christmas just so they can read and add comments on this site. I know they will get a copy of “Happily Ever After(not that they need it). I just want to share the gift that you gave me when I bought copies of your DVD.
Congrats again on 2 yrs and you know I really try to keep my comment short but, it’s too hard. I wish I could write a post for anyone to comment on. I like to just be the one who comments. I think of myself as the “back up singer”. LOL. Oh wait, I can’t sing. I only know how to type a long comment.

Lamar and Ronnie I’m here! *taking cover* Honestly, getting married is one of the most emotional things I’ve ever been through. The flowers faded quickly and I was forced to really prepare to be a wife – not to mention I’m hating grad school right now *sigh*. Anyway, I’ve been here, lurking via my blackberry, and a lot of post, coupled with Harriet’s infamous words of wisdom!, helped me make one the best decisions of my life with ease and confidence. I value everyone who takes time to share their wisdom and insight, because it is truly helping people, and I’m confident I’m not just speaking for myself.

By the way, I forwarded the article with you all in Ebony as power couple to everyone I knew like yall were my cousins! LOL…I LOVE BMWK :-)

Anyone one need tips to throw a power wedding on a sensible budget, get at me…people are still talking about it! It was truly an amazing day :-)
