Christmas All Year?

Once I turned 13, the commercialism of Christmas never held the same fervor for me.  That year, my mom had surgery on my 13th birthday and literally died on the operating table.  She was revived (thank God), but since then, I began to truly understand what Christmas was all about:  giving of yourself and appreciating the intangible gifts that no amount of money can purchase.

So this Christmas, as I sit on my Santa Clause’s lap (pssst…his real name is Patrick Hairston, but don’t tell anybody), let me tell you about the gifts we both received throughout the year:

  • Our son did not have to be hospitalized this year!  For two years in a row, he had to be hospitalized for either allergies or breathing problems, and this is the first year since 2006 that we have not had to spend the night!
  • You read the story about our home being in foreclosure and the miraculous restoration that came out of that.
  • My husband and I had a breakthrough in our communication with one another!
  • We have a vision of the future and all that it entails, including relocating to pursue our dreams!

I feel like a spoiled brat…these are things that money would never be able to buy, and I’m so grateful for them.  I’m also grateful for BMWK and the awesome community that is contained within this website.  Have a merry Christmas, BMWK!  I look forward to sharing another year with  you!

What kinds of intangible things have you been gifted with throughout the course of the year?  Tell us about them!

God bless!

Here are a few of my intangible gifts that I am so thankful for: being able to homeschool and spend each day with my lovely daughters being able to rest in peace ( God has truly covered me and took away the worrying I usually succumb to) having an awesome husband who really helps me and believes in me being able to do things that bring me happiness instead of things that I feel like I have to do instead of want to do

I am so happy to have peace of mind and wonderful friends and family. Earlier this year I was going through a lot and I was seriously depressed and I had no joy or peace in my life. I am truly happy to be able to smile again and know that all the time, God has had my back. I have really great parents who are always there for me and my kids and I truly love them and appreciate them for that. It is very rare that you find truly good friends you can lean and depend on, and I have a couple of them and for that I am grateful. My kids are probably the best intangible gift I have.....they are wonderful.
