Haygoods

I (Lamar) had the pleasure of doing an interview yesterday with a great couple, Norris and Tameka Coles from TLC’s hit reality TV show “One Big Happy Family”.  America has fallen in love with the Coles who have inspired people across the nation to get it going and lose weight. Check out the interview below then leave us a comment letting us know what you think. If you haven’t gotten a chance to see all of the episodes of “One Big Happy Family” lucky for you there’s a marathon this weekend on TLC. Check the link for listings.

Thanks to Norris and Tameka for doing this interview. I love that this family is so close and that they do everything together…eating meals… exercise… etc. They have family meetings, they pray together. This is good stuff!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us!!

I truly love this family because they represent a solid foundation of love and dedication to each other. I’m so happy to see them taking this weight loss journey together and watching the show has really opened my eyes to how serious obesity is.

I will say, the husband deciding to propose to his wife was very special to watch. Hearing him confess that he was seeking to be a better husband and role model to his family was music to my ears because finally a sincere, and genuine black male has made his way to reality television…

However, while I do believe they are being indirectly exploited, this is one of the “God turned it around for my good” situations and hopefully America can see past the pounds and open their hearts to this beautiful black family and the lessons of love we all can take note of. :-)

I will be watching the Marathon. I too enjoy this family. Why does society make it seem that if you are overweight you can’t or don’t have a family foundation/connection?

  • Cheryl

I caught the first couple episodes of this show, and I love them! They seem like genuinely nice people, with a good relationship with each other and their children. I didn’t find it exploitative, I am glad that they are getting help for their issue, and they are inspirational. God bless the Cole family.

I love the family. Thank you TLC for airing a show that is real and easy for a large population to relate to. I know Tameka personally and she is a wonderful person to be around. She keeps it real all the time. She is very confident and funny. I love the fact she and her daughter considered themselves “Diva’s” regardless of their size. The confidence that they all display made me step up my game. I pray TLC continue to do more shows with the Cole family.

  • Cami

Mr. Cole, it’s Cami from the vet! I missed the show on Saturday when is it playing again? I can’t wait to see it.. When I saw the previews I was like OMG I know him lol…

  • Kelly

I absolutely LOVE the Coles family. Tameka is such a role model for all working moms. She holds down two jobs and keeps that family motivated. She is never seen complaining about having to work, or how tired she is. Thinking of her has helped me stop complaining about having to work and raise a family at the same time. It’s not easy, so it’s nice to be reminded that I am not alone. Six episodes is not enough! I don’t care if they never lose another pound. The dynamics of this family unit serve inspirational on so many levels. I am a true fan!
