VIDEO: President Obama’s State of the Union Address

From Whitehouse.gov:

In his State of the Union Address tonight, the President laid out an agenda attempting to attack one problem from every conceivable angle: the terrible squeeze felt by America’s middle class.  Fundamentally, that means prying government away from special interests and dedicating it to measures that put Americans to work and lay the foundation for a stronger economy for our country – lowering health care and tuition costs, spurring creation of the next generation of clean energy jobs.  It also means putting a cop on the beat on Wall Street, so major banks can no longer take advantage of families and taxpayers.

It amazes me how many Republicans go on and on about dangerous government spending, yet turn a blind eye to the theft from Wall Street. Its almost as if the Right wingers expect middle class Americans to sit back and say that it is perfectly okay to be robbed by rich, caucasian, educated Wall Street types, but we should be angry and only hold people accountable if they hold you at gunpoint and take your last twenty dollars. A crime is a crime, I don't care who is commiting it, but to keep the economy afloat, he bailed them out. They are probably laughing all the way to the bank! Part of the problem with America is that there are some people who feel that they are entitled to be rich and that it is okay to rip off common, hardworking people to build wealth. They make attempts to justify their dishonesty and lack of ethics with the fact that they are intelligent. Pleeeeaaase.... Barack made a fine speech and has wonderful ideas, the disheartening thing is that there are so many people that want to see him fail that no matter how diplomatic and detailed and hardworking he is, he will face many obstacles. It's almost as if some people feel like he is stealing "their country and their dream". I think that he is on point with his ideas. I am glad that he still plans to restructure health care, but I do not think that it can be done overnight.....that bill is going to have to take a little longer. As a healthcare proffessional myself, I don't think that some of the politicians could anticipate the long term fallout from such sweeping and quick change. He is an amazing president, but he is going to have it twice as hard as some of the others. Just my two cents.

@ Pecansandie People expect "too much too soon". We live in a "instant, I want it now" frame of mind. How can one man, even if he is our President change things in one year? I heard that the health care bill is just that " A Bill", it is not suppose to go into full force until 2014. Please someone correct me if I got my information wrong. I was listening to the radio a few days ago and a caller said something that caught my attention, she said sit back and look at his vision. I can say that I am not a fan of all the bail outs, but had it not been done can we imagine in 2010 going through a much more serious issue, a Resession beats a Depression that happened in the 30s.

Anna, I am not criticizing the President, I agree with his decision to bail out Wall Street (to aoid a depression), my criticism is mainly of the Republicans that accept the bail out money and then turn on him. My entire comment was meant to show just how difficult a job Barack Obama has in front of him because there are many that want to see him fail. I also agree that the healthcare bill was just "a Bill", however it was written and put out there pretty quickly, which scared alot of people. Overall, I think that he is doing a fantastic job considering all of the opposition that he is facing.
