…And The Award Goes To….

In light of the Oscars last night, I thought I’d pay tribute to my crew, to those people in my life who make each day a little brighter, each problem a little easier, each celebration a little bigger.

Best Actress(es) in a Supporting Role - my gang of childless friends, who may not exactly know what I’m babbling about when I’m venting to them on the phone, but who listen intently in a way that makes me think they’re great at faking it. Thanks for never making me feel like the odd one out.

Best Actor in a leading role - There is only one guy in my life that is my husband, who is the head of our household and the joy of my life. Without him, our family wouldn’t shine as bright.

Best Makeup - Not makeup, per se, but shea butter is this family’s secret weapon. Shea butter came into our life with a boom in 2009 and now we all end up using it from head to toe on the daily.

Best Writing (Original Screenplay) - God. Couldn’t have scripted my life any better than it is right now. There had to be something bigger than me to make things as wonderful as they are now. No matter what obstacles that come, I’ve been blessed with a support system that just won’t break. I love you all more than life!

Best Song -Where Would I Be” by Kindred. This song sums up how I feel about my family. Where I be if they didn’t exist? Life would be pretty bleak, indeed.

Go ahead and give a shout-out to the cast and crew that do you good, day in and day out. Who deserves special praise in your life?
