Meet The Young Howard Grad Who May Save Your Child’s Life!

by Lamar Tyler

A few months ago I attended an invitation only Minority Tech conference and was lucky enough to meet Jamal Williams, Founder and President of KIDFIT, LLC. Jamal was pitching his product to Venture Capitalists that were assembled in the room and I was immediately impressed with what he was presenting. Jamal, a recent Howard graduate, has created an application called KIDFIT that runs on the IPhone, IPAD and IPod Touch devices. The KIDFIT App allows your child to have their own personal trainer and fun at the same time by using the more than 150 different exercises that are included, complete with instructions and demonstrations. Childhood obesity is such a severe problem across the United States that Michelle Obama has launched a campaign to fight the issue. We think she needs to meet Jamal and take a closer look at KIDFIT :-)

Even though Jamal is young, this is not just a hobby. He’s already received the support of both Howard and Columbia Universities so if you haven’t figured it out yet, he’s making moves! Check out the short video interview we did with Jamal below. He was sick the day we came out so we really appreciate him taking the time. This is another great example of what you can do at any age when you follow your passion. For more info you can go to www.kidfitkids.com. To purchase the app for 1.99 you can go here.

This is just awesome! I was just talking with my aunt about how much of a shame it is that public school systems eliminated physical education and music/arts programs.

I also really love the fact that this young brother is doing his part to fulfill the First Lady’s vision and goal to do away with childhood obesity!

Amen. I honesty believe that my city built new schools because the old bathrooms were small and the kids are over sized. Let this young Grad. save some lives.
