BMWK POLL: Do You Discuss Politics In Your Marriage?

by Lamar Tyler

Yesterday on Facebook I saw a friendship meltdown because of a political rift. Time and time again I see this happen, someone posts a politically charged Facebook status and it’s on and popping from that point in. This got me to thinking what happens when this happens in a marriage? Ronnie and I see eye to eye on most political issues and on the ones we don’t I don’t feel the burning desire that I have to force my opinion upon her. What happens in your household?

[poll id="28"]

What happens when you’re a Dem and he’s a Republican or worse he’s down with the…. Tea Party? Does this cause a rift in your relationship? Can you discuss political issues freely or are these topics off limits?

My husband and I talk politics all the time. I wanted Hillary he wanted Obama. We did not even vote for the same men running for Mayor. We will early vote Sunday. We know who won the Presidency, the man I chose is now our Mayor. LOL. Parents, please allow politics in your home as we allow GOD in our home. I think most ppl may be intimidated to vote, ill informed, or not voting is just a family generation to generation cycle. Political debates are great. Involve the whole family for not only family time, but bonding time.
