A mission statement for your marriage can include your goals as a couple, future plans and the action steps needed to make it all happen.
It must be specific, detailed, provide direction and be realistic. The goals we set for our marriage must be attainable; otherwise we are setting ourselves up for failure.
The mission statement must be accompanied by actions that keep the couple moving forward. Once it is written, posting it in common areas in the home serves as a constant reminder. Checking in, once a year or every 6 months, to measure the success, is another key point in developing this statement.
The main idea behind a marriage mission statement is to remind a couple of what they both deemed as important for their marriage, so that actions and words will be in alignment with the overall mission.
Have you written up a mission statement for your family? Has it helped you stay on track? What advice would you give for crafting a mission statement for other families?
