{Be A Better Spouse Challenge} Tip #3: Call to Say “I Love You”

Do you ever feel like the only time you talk to your spouse on the phone these days is to tell him or her to remember to take out the trash or to ask about dinner plans (*raising hand and waving it around in the air*)? As married couples, there are so many occasions when we need to deal with life’s not-so-romantic moments like carpool and taxes that it’s easy to let those simple opportunities to show our affection pass us by.

Make your spouse smile today by picking up the phone and calling just to say ‘I love you.’ Don’t say it as you’re getting off of the phone after talking about something else and don’t use the phone call to also talk about the kids or the electricity bill. Texting is not allowed.

The purpose of your call is to take a moment to let your spouse hear how much you care. Maybe the call will take you both back to the days when you couldn’t wait to hear each other’s voice on the phone. Maybe it will be just the thing that your spouse needs to hear in that moment. Those three little words don’t take long to say, but they can have a big impact on your relationship.

When was the last time you called your spouse just to say, “I love you”? Been too long? Try it today!

When I'm at work and can't call, I'll send a quick text saying "I love you." It means a lot to my wife.
