Who’s The Real Star In The Braxton Family?

I could’ve sworn Toni Braxton was the most famous Braxton, but give it time…and Tamar might come out ahead.

The first episode of “Braxton Family Values” gave us a broad introduction to the Braxton clan as Toni prepares for a benefit concert in Bermuda. Let’s get a rundown of who’s who, shall we?

Traci is the oldest (after Toni). She used to be a singer with her sisters, but around the time they were set to sign to a record label and release their debut album, she became pregnant and was kicked out. (Or left. Not quite sure how things went down exactly). She’s labeled on the show as the “wannabe,” and she’s still bitter all these years later, not quite over not being in the group. But even though she’s bitter, I can tell it’s from a personal pain of dreams deferred, not of the jealousy that Tamar (more on her later) exhibits every time she opens her mouth or looks Toni’s way. “I’m your biggest fan and I’m so proud of you guys,” she tells her sisters after Toni’s concert, as she lets the tears flow

Towanda is the middle sister and she’s Toni’s assistant. She has a husband, but as she puts it, “it’s a marriage of convenience.” Says they are more like roommates. They are allowed to date other people. They sleep in separate rooms. One rule: They can’t bring their dates to the house.) My face at this point? O_0. Tell me they’re joking. I’m so done.

We didn’t get too much about Trina, other than she’s Toni’s other backup singer with a penchant for alcohol. She mentions a shaky relationship with the husband and is labeled as the “party girl.” Mmm-hmmm. More on her later, I’m guessing.

Tamar, Tamar, Tamar. She’s Toni’s other backup singer and the baby of the family. Her husband, Vincent, also manages Toni (as well as Lady Gaga). If you learned anything about Tamar during the episode, it’s that she ain’t happy playing the back. It is clear from this show that she is trying to make a name for herself. Getting loud, storming out of rehearsal, fussing at every turn about being a “doo-wop girl.” By asserting herself as the strongest personality (which I have no doubt she is off-camera as well), she’s trying to get a deal or at least her own show.  ”I’m not responsible for nobody else’s career,” she keeps saying over and over again. Chile, we believe you.

They promised us drama and they delivered. Will we continue to watch? Only time will tell.

Did you catch the Braxton sisters on their new reality show? What did you think?

I didn't catch the show, but I'm having a mighty hard time figuring out which one is Toni in that picture... the one in the blue or the red? lol

LOL. She's the one in the red. If you catch her sister Trina in bad lighting you might think it's Toni.

That was really hard show to watch with Tamar always whinning, and fussing about her career. i don't think i'll watch again because of Tamar. Self-centered doesn't begin to explain her personality.

So from this recap, the "family values" are each others woes of not making the big time like Toni did? And where is their minister father in all this while his grown daughters are falling all out on national TV? I'd lay low too...

is The"Mommy" divorced from the daddy? I am with Lapreghiera. Where is daddy????? I am not so sure that this is showing good family value with all the whinning Tamar does and the fact she is dang dramatic....Toni was Toni, mellow chillax and thats why i like her...I don't about the whole "marriage for convience crap" thats all we need is another show promoting garbage about marriage, geesh fix your marriage, quit being like that man momma....not even going to speak on the drinking to much

i watched this show. it was a HOTT mess!! i kept telling myself it will get better. I was so disgusted with these grown women behavior. they were whinny, spoiled children. No, my children behavior better than this. I felt there was no real support or love for one another and what they could muster for the camera they did. What the hell did their mother raise them to be. But then i could tell with the way she could not deal with the grandchildren. Darn, see this is why Toni can not hold onto her money. They all believe they are more than what they are. No , Tamar is not someone i care to see more of...

Toni seems like the quietiest one in the family. Show is interesting enough to tune in again. Tamar is going to be the one of the sparks that everybody loves to hate.

I'm PRAYING that this show will get cancelled BEFORE episode 3. It sucks. If it doesn't then I am going to 'shop' my reality show to the network called 'Real People, Real Life"...LOL

The show is an attempt to rebirth Toni's career, launch her sister's caeer and assit with putting money in the other sister pockets! The younger sister (Tamar) is verbally aggressive! She's loud, Obnoxious, unlearned, and ignorant! Toni bragged about how strict she was raised by her parents in a christian household, but it was told on one of their promotion interview that their father was having an affair for 12 years, divorced their mother, and married his mistress a month after his divorce. All of the girls appears to be dysfunctional and Toni with her money woes is a clear example of the family values. They appear to all have been raised in the hood. Just by watching the show, one could not tell that they have been exposed to fame and fortune for over 15years. I think its sad that now theyhave to do a talk show which is only going to put african american women in a negative light. Tamar with her aggressive behavior, im surprised that she married a producer. I give her marriage 2years and its a wrap! Too loud and bossy.

Tamar has obviously been spoiled by everyone around her, including her mother and husband.  They are all afraid of her because there are no limits to her venemous big mouth.  I keep watching to see if anyone will set her straight, and they truly have tried, but to no avail!  She is dense, clueless and conceited and shallow as a puddle.  Even when Toni revealed her illness, she had to apologize to Tamar for making her upset!!   When Trina's husband bought them a lovely home, she was cruel and insulting to a house that most people watching the show would be thrilled to have.   She is a worthless person, and if she did manage to achieve a career, no one with any sense would buy anything she put out.  (I think her husband knows that :)  )  It's interesting to see people who are well-known and well-off, and still to feel so deeply sorry for them.

I feel Its just entertainment. Also they are just being real mybe alittle to real at times. I feel that Tamar might damage her chances of making a succesful hit due solely by how she comes over to the public. Look at Ray-Jay very talented ,but people just dont like him by the disrespect that he has shown to women  he just cant seem to get his music off the ground.Tamar i feel is following down the same path.We the comsumers have more power than we think

I am willing to bet none of the Braxtons girls, except Toni have achieve anything passed a high school degree.  The mother probably is less educated then her daughters.  Poor Toni is going to let her family ride her until she dies....then they are going to do the same things the Jacksons did to continue making money.  Ride Toni fame train.
