BMWK Weekend Travel Guide: Barbados Food & Wine and Rum Festival!

As far as weekend getaways go, a quick trip to the Caribbean is always a great idea. The exotic island of Barbados is just what the doctor ordered. The island is home to beautiful beaches, luxury resorts and the 2nd annual Barbados Food & Wine and Rum Festival.

Delicious, savory or just plain yummy, you will need several words to describe all the great food you will enjoy during the four day festival that starts Friday November 18th and runs through Monday November 21st. Some of our favorite chefs including Mark McEwan, Ming Tsai and BMWK favorite Marcus Samuelsson will be on hand serving up their best dishes alongside Barbados’ own Paul Yellin at several cooking demonstrations. Join wine and spirits expert Anthony Giglio at the Wine, Bubbles & Giggles wine tasting event to learn how to pick the best wine to go with that great dinner.

You can’t visit Barbados without sampling some of the best rum in the world. The island is home to several rum distilleries and 1,500 rum shops. Rum is an integral part of the island’s history so you must taste the islands’ famous “perfect rum punch,” you won’t be disappointed.

Take a break from the festival and visit some of the world’s most luxurious resorts like Sandy Lane or just enjoy a stroll on the white sandy beaches. Enjoy!

Tickets are on sale now. For the complete list of events and tours please visit: www.foodwinerum.com or call 1-866-280-4482.
