When the cast of the Best Man got together for a reunion dinner earlier this year, buzz started building about whether there were plans for a sequel. Now it appears the rumors are true, as Universal Pictures has picked up the option for The Best Man 2. The original grossed $35 million and it seems like that was enough to give them confidence in this production. Director Malcolm D. Lee is on board, as is the entire original cast.
When we mused earlier this year about our favorite black romantic comedies having a sequel, many of you weren’t in favor of revisiting Harper, Robin, Jordan and the rest of the crew. Nevertheless, we had some questions about what possible storylines they could explore, depending on when the movie picks back up:
We all want to know ““ did Harper (Taye Diggs) and Robin (Sanaa Lathan) REALLY get married after Harper’s planned rendezvous with Jordan (Nia Long), interrupted only because of Lance’s (Morris Chestnut) fists of fury? If they did get married, are they happy? Is Lance able to be faithful to his loving wife? Did Murch (Harold Perrineau) really hook up with Candy ““ did THAT relationship last? And the biggest question of all ““ where’s Jordan?
