Disney Living Challenge Week 11: Growing Stronger

We’re one week away from wrapping up our first Disney Living Challenge. Hopefully you and your children have been able to pick up a few tips that will enhance a healthy lifestyle in your home. We’ve also shared some great products in the process that can make the experience fun for your kids.

This week our topic is growing stronger. Our children are growing and with the recent push even from the White House for them to become more active they are bound to experience bumps and bruises along the way. Our buddies at Disney have created some fun theme inspired products to get your kids through the tough times.

Now I’m not going to pretend that our kids are always outside playing even though sometimes they do get the outdoors bug. They’d prefer to be watching their favorite Disney TV shows most of the time so we have to come up with creative and fun ways to get them engaged in activities. If they see them as something we’re making them do they’ll never really get on board so they have to really enjoy themselves in the process.

With all of the high priced toys and technology at their fingertips we’ve found that some of the true old school toys are the best ways to get our kids moving. Do you remember using a hula hoop or jump rope as a child? Did you have fun? Well our kids love those toys. Don’t forget about riding bikes, scooters or even just playing tag. I’ve even been known to put two plastic bins in the backyard and get in a quick game of soccer with our girls.

If a bump or bruise occurs in the process of all of this activity here a few tips on how to handle it:

  • If your child gets hurt, be sure to explain how you’re helping each step of the way – knowing what is going on can bring him or her comfort.
  • Ask your kids what their favorite Disney character would do when they aren’t feeling well. It might even bring out a giggle!
  • My girls still love it when I kiss their boo boos. Somehow they feel better right away.
  • If you have themed products like band-aids let them pick their own. It will get their mind off of the pain.

Here are a few products that you may want to consider from Disney Living:
