Chef Roble and Co. A Breath Of Fresh Air

Chef Roble and Co. premiered on Sunday night on Bravo TV. The show follows a young Black male chef trying to start his own catering business with family and close friends in tow. When I first heard about the show, I was extremely excited. After all, positive images of Black men are hard to come by and I wanted to support so I set an alarm on my cellphone and eagerly awaited the premiere. I wasn’t disappointed.

The show began with a short synopsis of Roble’s childhood and background in which told viewers about growing up in the hood and his success in the food business cooking for scores of celebrities including Michael Jackson.

After the synopsis, the show followed Roble and his business partner and sister, Jasmine, as they prepare for their first catering gig. Their client was a socialite who was celebrating her birthday and made outrageous demands that included no green food and a monkey. Despite dealing with a difficult client and a few last minute issues, the event went off without a hitch.

Parents, if you are interested in showing your children positive images of successful Black people, Chef Roble and Co. is definitely a show you should consider for a family TV night. In the age that produces shows like Flavor of Love, it is refreshing to see a show that focuses on a Black man that doesn’t include him disrespecting women and portraying himself as a thug. Also, this show spreads the message that Black men can be successful without having to dribble a ball or spit 16 bars.

This show will also show children that Black people are able to work toward a common goal despite being fed a different message. With the exception of one chef, everyone on Roble’s staff is Black and despite a few arguments, were able to work together. Roble is even mentoring a younger chef with a criminal background who has turned his life around.

In an era of scrapping “Real Housewives” and watching washed-up rappers pick women like they’re picking puppies from a litter, it’s refreshing to see a reality show that is positive and believable. Chef Roble and Co. airs every Sunday at 10 pm EST.

Did you watch the premiere? What do you think?

I LOVE Chef Roble. Him and his back pack and skateboard. I watched it with my son. He didn't realize that men actually dominated the Professional Chef World. He thought that was cool. He's 16 years old and it started a much needed conversation about what he wanted to do with his life. Chef Roble makes it look really cool to be in the kitchen with an apron on preparing food for people's enjoyment. He even got upset when the Client smashed that cake in her parent's face instead of eating it lol "That lady asked for that cake at the last minute. And that pretty baker spent all that time on it and it ended up on the floor. I'd be mad to." Great Show! I think my son may have found what he wants to do with his life

I missed the premier but I'll definitely be tuning in. Like you said, it's great to see a young black man doing something other than becoming a rapper or basketball player. Let's encourage our young ones to explore all sorts of careers!

I watched the show as I enjoy most cooking shows and the previews leading up to it, made it more appealing. Then I found out that he was from my hometown, that was the icing on the cupcake!!!! Good job.

Never been the one to watch Reality TV but this one really stands out. I LOVE the show and will definitely continue watching this show. Chef Roble portrays such a positive image the younger generation can benefit from. I admire his go-get-it-done-at-all-cost attitude!

I love the show but I hope it doesnt turn into a reality show: I mean showing drama and things that dont have anything to do with cooking or catering. I dont want to hear about a divorce or someone finding their long lost dad or following a cast member to the hospital etc etc

I love Chef Roble, his sister and his awesome crew.  He is so inspirational to not only black kids but to all kids and to adults who may not have considered the field of food and hospitality.   Keep on doing your thing young admirable man!

i love, love watching this show. he is so cute and so natural,  easy to listen to. so many young people can't  speak english  without "like like" several times in a sentence. he is also an amazing chef  without being so pretentious (unlike his first client and the 4 year old's mom and some of the guests at top chef). i hope he will be very successful  on and off tv and wish him the best. and yes, i am caucasian and over 40!!

I too agree-I'm proud to see such a hard working intelligent gentleman working an honest job and not rapping or balling which is out of most people's reach. He's doing something "attainable". I love the fact that he's also working with his sister and there's no disrespect or fighting as it is on some reality shows Keep it up.
