Does This Baby Bikini Onesie Go Too Far?

The onesie that you see pictured above is causing quite a stir around the Internet.   Some parents are outraged by the onesie that gives the illusion of a curved woman’s body in a red polka-dot bikini.

From WMC-TV:

“I don’t think it’s appropriate for a small child,” said parent Cathryn McKee. “I just think that is a little ridiculous that you would put that on your child.”

However, other parents said everyone should lighten up because the outfit is just a joke.

“I just think people overreact to stupid stuff I just don’t take offense to that at all,” said parent Jeannie Stanley.

Since toddlers don’t go shopping, it’s parents and adults that choose what their little ones wear.

What about the t-shirt version that people wear? Its just a onesie that the baby is gonna puke all over anyway, its funny, people pull the stick out ya butt and just laugh, calm down, its not even sexual, I agree little girls shouldn't wear bikinis either, but its a baby onesie she's gonna grow out of it anyway, and. While she's growing out of it, she's gonna throw up on, poop on it and when its done and tired mamma is gonna cut it up and use it as a dusting rag or car wash rag...people chill out this is not even a big deal, I've seen little girls dressed in "whore attire" as a halloween costume and people thought it was cute, that is what should be in question, or the mother caught encouraging her young daughter to fight and beat up another little girl both under the age of 7, this is not that serious, its just a onesie that you don't even have to buy.

Just today I was talking to someone about baby bikinis. We joked how some are a bit sexy. We took a picture on our phone of a swimsuit with side cutouts. But I think babies are adorable in little bitty bikinis. I even got my daughter a flowered one with a straw skirt to match. So not offended:) www.diaryofafirsttimemom.com

I agree with the other posters that it's not a big deal. People love to make something out of nothing.

Obviously it's a personal matter of choice what you allow your children to wear, whether a baby or teenager. There is nothing more wrong with this onesie than there is real diamonds in a baby's ear, designer shoes on their feet or lip gloss on a toddler. Personally my daughter will have neither because it's the message it portrays that doesn't sit right with me nor are any necessary for teaching her what i think is important in her life. If i want to see something cute, i ask my 2 yr. old to say her abc's! All i'm saying is we can do better!

This, like so many other internet debates, is stupid. It's an ugly onsie that most people won't buy, so no one will know what it is in a month. Some people really need to get a hobby. Really.
