Travel Tuesday: Have You Ever Heard Of a Divorce Retreat?

Here at BMWK we are all about building and sustaining healthy marriages and relationships. But we do realize that a high percentage of marriages around us are ending in divorce. When I read that the beautiful city of Lake Tahoe, California was the destination for the first ever divorce retreat, well…let’s just say I was a little intrigued to say the least.

“The Rebuilding Your Life After Divorce” mountain retreat is designed to help the recently divorced let go of post-divorce anger and sadness, overcome the nervousness of dating again and teach the new single parent ways to ensure that their children continue to thrive after the divorce.

The retreat is the brainchild of author Kimberly Pryor who witnessed firsthand the pain, suffering and challenges of friends after divorce. She was then inspired to help divorced people everywhere. This is indeed vacationing with a purpose. The purpose is to get your life back on track after the devastation of divorce.

An estimated 200 divorced people will attend the retreat and 12 guest speakers are confirmed. Guest speakers include: Charles Orlando author of “The Problem with Women”...is Men,” Julia Bowlin author of “To Me I Thee Wed,” and Theodore Henderson author and host of the seminar “Divorce”...the Start of Something Good.”

The host resort, Granlibakken Resort is a perfect resort for getting back on track and rejuvenating your mind, body and spirit. Perfectly nestled in the trees above Lake Tahoe and moments away from Tahoe City guests will enjoy luxury suites, tennis courts, great food and the exclusive treetop adventure park.

For more information please visit www.afterdivorceadvice.com. The retreat is scheduled for September 15-17th and travel packages are also available. If you know someone suffering after their divorce this maybe the fresh start they need.

What do you think BMWK family, how do you feel about a retreat for the recently divorced?

I think it's a great idea because a lot of people, especially those that didn't want the divorce fall into depression and other challenges after the divorce.

I also think it's a great idea. From what I have witnessed, it is very challenging to get your life back on track. I feel there isn't always enough support. Those married don't quite understand and those who are single can't relate. So good idea for them to begin healing.

As a recent divorcee, I luv the idea. Get sick of Christian bashing and misunderstanding about biblical teaching on the subject from other Christians. Glad to see more support.

I like it, surprised no one has thought of it before.
