VIDEO: What Happens When a Dad Gets Fed Up With Sagging and Skinny Jeans?

Most dads that I speak with across the country detest the thought of their younger sons wearing skinny jeans and the dad in this video is no different. The question is did he go too far by ridiculing his child and posting this on the web? Check out the video below and leave us a comment letting us know.

I don't think this father went too far at all! Kids need to know that what is acceptable by their peers isn't always acceptable at home by their parents. And its the parents that have their best interest in mind.

NO HE DID NOT GO TOO FAR!!! He's lucky he didn't get hands laid on him for laughing. I don't know if I could've not controlled my anger like that.

I don't think the father went too far. I think this was the best way to teach his son about how he looks in public and how others can use that outward appearance to perceive him to be something he may not be inside. I, also, applaud his father for using video technology to teach his son. Although it may not be what he had in mind, he got down to the boy's level to teach him in terms he'd understand - video...of himself, no less. In the end, I do believe him doing this video will not only encourage the son to make better choices in the future but will allow for both father and son to have a closer relationship as well.

As the mother of an 11 year old boy I am bringing him up in the admonition of God. That is my guide and that is what I am going stand on. Society has already screwed up alot of things by changing Gods Guidelines. no Skinny Jeans in my house and I think men and boys that wear them are questionable.

I do not believe the father went too far. I believe he was reacting to extreme and potentially dangerous behavior in his minor child. I say extreme because there is no logical justification for too tight clothing (as the video makes clear). The potential danger lies in allowing his young son to believe that it is okay to follow unquestionably the values of pop culture and society. "A fool has no delight in understanding, but in expressing his own heart." Proverbs 18:2 "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise." Proverbs 12:15 (taken from http://www.crossroad.to/HisWord/verses/topics/fool.htm) We must pray without ceasing for our youth, study the Bible diligently, and be just as bold for Christ as the world is against Him.

There's no logical justification for half the steps that go into many women's beauty routines or fashion choices except vanity. Do you wear make up? Stop covering up what God made perfect. Are you overweight? Why are you abusing the temple God has created for you. Do you relax your hair or add that hideous weave to it? Why alter the uniqueness God has made for you? This is not a personal attack at you (I don't even know you). The point is the ridiculousness of some of the comments and outrage at this kid's public humiliation by a parent that he should trust. This boy will not go to his father when he has a problem and they will probably not be close as he gets older.

He absolutely went too far. This was a public humiliation. What happened to discipline happening in the home. He could have recorded it, showed it the student, and then erased it, but putting this on the Internet, where it will be forever, is way too far. What happens when this is linked back to that kid. How's that going to affect his job prospects and future relationships. Discipline is in the home and leave it there. From this video, it didn't mention that the kid was getting poor grades, getting into trouble, or breaking the law. He was wearing clothes. Is it a dumb look, yes? Is it enough to humiliate your kid in front of the whole world, no. The dad's lack of long term critical thinking about the consequences of this is appalling. Humiliation is not proper parenting. This is absolutely poor parenting. He should be ashamed, not the kid.

And wait what's wrong with skinny jeans? So, sagging jeans are too loose and show too much. Skinny jeans are too tight. Some of you parents will never be satisfied until your kids are dressed like Steve Urkel. They're just dumb fashion choices, much like the dumb choices we made in the 70s and 80s. If you spend all your time judging these kids by what they wear and not getting to know them (I teach them everyday) you're missing the chance to get to know some great kids. If we continue to judge our kids by their looks, we can't be mad at other people or society who write our kids off without giving them a chance. The interesting thing about skinny jeans is that they are a multiracial fad. I've seen kids from all races wearing them and the only people who react negatively to them are the black parents.

Okay, I have a few things to share: 1) is the dad a comedian?? he was funny to me! 2) he went too far by showing it on the web...that should have been for their household and their family ONLY, 3) those jeans were way to dang small for him! Overall, I agree with a couple comments above...skinny jeans/saggy jeans are just bad fashion choices, but (world wide) public humiliation of your child is BAD PARENTING. I'm certain when that kid has concerns, problems, or issues that his dad will not be on his list of people to talk to. Our kids have to do better, but so do we parents.

More young men need a father that cares enough to do this! My father would have beat the jean off of him...so would my future husband! To piggy back on what someone said earlier...raising these kids to know who God is and keeping them focused and active on positive things with influential people that intrigue their interest is the adults responsibility. Don't allow your kids to stray, then get mad when they do and you hate the results of your lack of attention! #wisdom Stay all up in their business...even down to the tv shows they are watching! Take control over the reality of what is and will go on in your child's life!
