BMWK TV: Laughing and Learning with iPads at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

Ronnie and I always say that we were blessed with the platform of BMWK, to be a blessing to others. What we enjoy most about working through the site and our films, is the ability to add something to people’s lives.Yesterday I had an opportunity to make a difference again.

If you’ve been a fan of the site for a while, you’ll remember that we’ve worked with the local children’s hospital, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta before. The work that they do for children, all throughout the south east, is amazing to say the least. I also work with Fisher-Price as a member of their Fisher-Price Play Ambassador program. Well, yesterday the two came together.

With the help of our friends at Fisher-Price we were able to donate multiple Laugh & Learn Apptivity Cases for iPads and iPods at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. This is important because the iPads that they’ll protect are used by child life specialists, like Katie in the video below. The child life specialists have a specific duty of keeping the children happy during their hospital stay.   As you probably know, iPads and iPods are great for children but expensive and extremely delicate. The Apptivity cases that we donated will protect the devices, and bring additional enjoyment to the kids.

I’m sending a big thanks to Fisher-Price for providing the products for me to donate. I’m also sending a huge thanks to the entire staff at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for all of the important work that they do each day to keep our kids happy and healthy.

You can view the video of my visit below.

BMWK, do you let your children play with your iPad, iPhone or iPod? Have you/they ever broken one?

How awesome! Those children will forever remember your kind act :) I let my nephew play on my iPad and he loves it! I think for his 4th birthday I'm going to find one of these for him, because he's so smart and loves electronics.

It really is amazing how quickly kids pick up the swiping functions and learn how to operate the iPads, but they are way too expensive to leave the unprotected. That would make a great B-Day gift. Before getting one of these I always was nervous when the kids played with ours lol.

Thanks Fran! The Child Life Specialists at the hospital are amazing. Katie was so great with the kids while I was shooting the video. For those moments while they were playing you could tell, being in the hospital was the furthest thing from their minds.

Yes, those cases are really cool and kudos to Fisher Price for donating them so the kids can play with the expensive iPads and iPods. I know it makes me nervous when my kids' play with mine - my case isn't nearly as durable. :) What a great effort! :)

This is wonderful!!! You and Fisher-Price are such a blessing! Please continue to impact the lives of those who are in need. And now, I'm also going to but one of those Apptivity covers. My kids can be destructive.

That's great that BMWK and Fisher-Price were able to donate those items. I love to see the Child Life Specialist coming when its shot time for the triplets! They love the iPad and it always helps calm them down after the mean lady hurts them (lol) at the doctor. Hopefully they'll get some of those cases at the University of Chicago!

I don't have an Ipad/Ipod (wrong savings/tax bracket). However, I do have a Nook. When my daughter wants to use it, she can. I have a case for it, though. That way, I don't have to always worry about her breaking it.

As a father with two techie girls AND as a gadget geek who has fixed a couple of cracked iPhone & iPad screens for clients, it would behoove anybody with kids to cop one of these Fisher Price cases. "BrothaTech approves of this post"
