Two weeks ago, we were saddened to hear of the passing of beloved actor Sherman Hemsley, most notably known for his roles in All in the Family, The Jeffersons, and Amen. The death has affected many people, as we all felt as if Hemsley was a member of our family from his consistent presence on our TV screens.
At the time of reporting, the cause of death was unknown. The El Paso County Texas Medical Examiner has confirmed that Hemsely’s cause of death was “superior vena cava syndrome” which is a complication from a cancerous mass on his lung (Lung Cancer). He was aware of his condition, and was urged to receive chemotherapy and radiation treatments before he passed away.
Hemsley may have passed away at the age of 74, but he lives on in our hearts, and on the television screen.
